You're missing the effect of "pair bonding" here. Straight off the bat. That has a massive effect in long term human co-habitation (as long as you are having regular sex, which is a pre-requisite).

You are also missing the fact that as you age your wife ages.

But the time you've got the bald spot, She's got the neck wrinkles... By the time you've got the nose hair, she's got the bingo wings/flabby thighs....etc etc.

She isn't the same old 25 yo married to a 40 yo. She now a 40 yo woman married to a 40 yo man.

Given how the dating market develops in humans and males extreme aversion to age over 40-45 the more time goes on, the more any advantage you had around 25-30 should stretch into a bigger and bigger lead. (as long as you don't give up and let yourself go into a 20-stone couch potato).

For the record, Women have an extreme advantage 18-28, it's more equal 29-35, woman at a disadvantage 36-45, and women with a heavy disadvantage over 45.

This ignores that people develop emotional bonds, and also ignores that women get older just as much as men do.

Which is why if you are attractive to one woman who is more than a 5, you are probably equally as attractive to many women and should gorge yourself. I really think that the numbers are off.

If you are a 3 I can imagine it happening pretty often, just like branch swinging and all that stuff. But above 7 this stuff gets rare. There are many relationships where the man is the price and the women purses him.

You're ignoring the very real and measurable pair bond that forms between people in a relationship due to the release of oxytocin over time. That is what people call "love", in contrast to the infatuation known as "being in love" wich fades after the honeymoon phase. It is literally the same stuff that gets released in women during pregnancy, child birth and breast feeding to keep them from abandoning the screaming, potato-looking gremlin, filling then with "love" for the baby instead.

Additionally you are ignoring the number if people who stay together for life. In first marriages it is about 70%, if you include second+ marriages (so those with people who alread demonstrated an unsuccessful relationship), it is still at 50%. So no, there is nothing saying a woman will leave you, in fact you can control the parameters pretty well to reduce the likelyhood. Just don't instantly marry the first woman you come accross.

Also women can only play this game so long. They have a massive advantage in their 20s but it goes downhill after that, especially if they want children. This is another reason why relationships are not a wast of time btw - it is the only optimal environment to raise children in, if you want them to be successful. So unless you're planning to be an evolutionary dead-end or pay child support for a bastard from the get go, a relationship with a well-vetted woman is the only way to go. (You want your children to be smart, good looking and successful after all)

Now I agree that the current laws and social norms are far from the optimum and everybody loses out a bit in this way, however there are still many ways to reduce the risks and live the life you want, if you are willing to put the work in.

Why do you say that? Just because that particular woman doesn't want you anymore, has no bearing on whether another woman wants you. One person's "trash" is another's treasure, after all.
