God no. Most people are not altruistic, regardless of gender... and most of the people who appear altruistic are just good at hiding their self-interest

No. I saw those claims and they're absurd. RPers claiming men wanted good wives and family because "it helps society"? Lol. All humans are driven by self-interest. They want that life because it's what they think will make them happy. They are just as self-interested as a female slut. People just like finding ways to feel superior to others.

I remember being a kid, and one of the biggest things that was taught to me and my peers was the idea of sharing. That in itself suggests that it's definitely something that is not inherent.

No, not at all. There's a huge variance in what value of society each man and woman places on it. I'd argue that if anything, more women would care about society, though it's not because of altruism. It's because women are more physically vulnerable than men and so are more mindful of the physical benefits that society confers upon them. To be clear, living in society is better for both men and women but I'd argue that women benefit more from a liberalized society that subsidizes healthcare and birth control than men do.

I also believe that very few people are altruistic, least of all the RP men. Many of them brag about getting a woman to cheat on her man, something that I find morally wrong to do. RP has a very "fuck you got mine" mindset.

My view of it is that men are (generally) altruistic primarily when they're dealing with people they perceive as their in-group (their country-men, family, whatever identity is important to them) whereas women tend to be altruistic to groups they perceive as 'other' as well. So, a man might be very giving/ sacrificing within his own family/ community but not necessarily care about the welfare of people from foreign cultures, whereas a woman might feel that people in and outside her own in-group should be treated somewhat comparably, even if that disadvantages her in-group to some degree.

Obviously this isn't an absolute, there are plenty of examples to the contrary and even when it is true it tends to work on a spectrum depending on culture/ what people individually value, but it seems to hold loosely true for a lot of people I know.
