That's always seemed to be more of a Western and, even more so, American thing. American kids are taught anti-authoritarianism, and think they are cool for it. Some of that influence gets carried on into adulthood.

So I think you have a point. That does seem to be the case for a lot of people. However, what you're describing is bog standard rebelliousness. It says nothing about consistency and diligence for long term changes, which take discipline, not spur of the moment decisions. This can work for the short term. I.e. People rebelling temporarily to make a point. "I'll show them!" Most people have a very difficult time making long term changes.

I'd say most people probably follow this logic, and in a way it can be a form of manipulation. People can be really easy to push, when you want them to do something, just tell them they can't do it. Works with toddlers to adults.

TRP doesn't tell us "don't do X because you aren't allowed", it tells us "don't do X because it doesn't work." Being obstinate about it doesn't change our results.

That's just true for kids and spiteful people, most people are cooperative and accept it. You can't make conclusions about others based on yourself.

Sure you can reject all male gender roles, but don't expect people to respect you/follow your lead.

If you want people to follow your lead then comply, if you don't care about that then you don't have to comply.

Except no one will tell you that. That is the foundation of the slave society we have now. Always tell someone that they can do it, that way society profits from his/her failure, up until he grows old, get used up and thrown into a retirement home. Then the loser will teach his/her children to believe in the same scam, repeating the cycle.
