Technically to red pill as such?

I read a letter to the editor from a thirtysomething woman complaining about how all men she met would dump her pretty soon under dubious pretenses, and closed with the statement that men were now the weaker sex (implicit message: "because they don't man up and handle a strong woman like meeeee"). The complaints as such were nothing unusual (though it bugged me because I had been long fed up with the whole shaming narrative at that point), but the comments were hilarious.

Well, one of the comments linked to an interesting article about changing dating dynamics. Since I was curious about the reception of that article beyond the comment section from the SMH, I googled the title and of course one of the entries was the redpill sub.

I first discovered reddit from a HuffPo article about sex, which was borrowing from an Askmen thread. Someone was trashtalking Trp and I got curious. At first I was confused and I remember googling 'the red pill'(I watched the Matrix too long ago to get the reference). Suddenly it made sense. These are things I've always known, having grown up in an uber conservative society.

All that plus I don't like 3rd wave feminism at all.

Back when I was Paleo (I'm now post-paleo and into gut flora LOL) there was a link to Hawaiian Libertarian's Paleo Baby post, and I started reading his blog. There was a post about how he gamed his wife and I liked the concept so I started reading his blogroll and I was mocking and ridiculing most of the things I read on Twitter in my previous persona.

Then one day everything the RP blogs were saying clicked and I was HORRIFIED that I recognized all of the bad female attributes in myself. It scared the crap out of me; I basically dread-gamed myself! I immediately quit ~~all~~ most of my bad behavior and my marriage is incredibly better for it. It was a good marriage, but now it's a GREAT marriage.

I read F. Roger Devlin's Sexual Utopia in Power. I did read that PUA book about Mystery called "The Game" and thought it was mildly funny.

I found reddit's the red pill through the blue pill, and wrote a sort of throw away article about some social trends I had noticed.

The Blue Pillers went nuts, that creepy fat "feminist man" Dave futrelle declared me a "white supremacist," an actual self-identified Marxist Feminist from TheBluePill wrote an article about my "toxic masculinity" then some "male feminist" from the blue pill came to my blog and declared I was "forcing my BDSM on people" among other bizarre and unhinged accusations.

Reddit's TheRedPill hasn't taught me anything about women that I didn't learn from my dad, my older brothers and friends, or women themselves, really.

5 years ago I used to be a feminist. So strong was my belief in its truth that I even tried to persuade my sister to take up maths thinking society/patriarchy/stereotypes were limiting her. Then one day while reading a review of the Fight Club I came across the fact that women are the majority of US college graduates and a woman's comment that men should do a movement of their own which kinda hurt my feelings...

Anyway, so I find the inchoate men's righters, like guys from the-spearhead and the misandry bubble author(I commented on it back then), things like domestic violence symmetry and school changes to make it more female friendly. A few months later after discussing the issue with friends, one of them calls me a misogynist. Not seriously of course. I've never heard the word so I look it up. One of the result points me to absolute.net.

If you think RPers are misogynists, then you haven't seen anything yet.

Then I happened upon Simon Sheppard's heretical.com which outlines the mating game and differences between men's and women's approach which he extends to other facets of society and state. Feminism as the cause of World Wars is one of his articles.

It was only later that I came across PUA site Roissy in DC(now known as the Heartiste), coiner of terms like the rationalization hamster and cock carousel, and the various sub-sites it spawned from its commenters which now appear on TRP's sidebar.

Red Pill ideas?

I probably first got exposed to some of the ideas (along with the whole men's rights stuff) with some of the early "male empowerment" stuff ("Myth of Male Power" and the like), as well as books like "Men Are From Mars/Women Are From Venus" and "You Just Don't Understand." Also, a (very) light familiarization with early PUA techniques. Late-eighties/early-nineties stuff. All hit me when I was at my most defeated and bitter about women and relationships, so I definitely get the "anger phase" that some men go through. I was there (and I don't recommend it, incidentally).

A few years later (and somewhat wiser), I started on a lot of "spiritual" self-improvement. Studying human behavior/nature, communication, shifting paradigms, learning the core of what it is to be responsible, etc. Dale Carnegie, The Landmark Forum, Eckhart Tolle, Buddhist philosophy, and countless other sources. Had a lot of direct, rubber-hits-the-road relationship practice during this time to help me assess what worked and what didn't for me.

Started losing some of all that thinking about 5 years ago, and bottomed out a couple years ago.

TRP?

I have been running all over the Web looking for new ideas since I bottomed out, especially looking for new ways to shift my thinking regarding sexual relationships and dynamics, and I came across /r/TRP, probably from a blog or google search. Upon reading some of the meatier stuff (which is, granted, often hard to find and process), I instantly recognized what I was reading, and have been throwing it into the mix ever since (though filtered through the much bigger context I had already created from my earlier and concurrent work).

I read a post from someone on reddit who made reference to the red pill in a negative manner. He seemed very upset by whatever the red pill was. I didn't know what it was so I googled it. First link on the google search was TRP sub. It's kinda ironic that by hating on TRP that guy contributed to its growth.

1st I was exposed to redpill ideas about sex, sex differences gender roles etc by growing up in the 70s, when it was not known as "the red pill" but just as "reality", BP are perennially unaware of how utterly novel so many of their attitudes and views are. The were around in the 70s, but only among small cadres of leftists and feminists.

2nd from my mom who was naturally RP as hell in her views of male and female nature and the dating game, and who I thank for my lifelong general success with men to whom I am attracted

3rd from reading Gone with the Wind when I was 12, a book That's chock full of rich red pill goodness, as is the film

4th reading Camille Paglia's Sexual Personae and Christina Hoff sommers who stole feminism when they came out, after (during? I forget) spending 5 years fighting feminism in undergrad in every class, every day

5th discovering the nascent man-o-sphere via HBD circa 2007ish, I think, and reading all of the frequently cited articles like sexual Utopia in power, rotatying polyandry and its enforcers, the misandry bubble, garbage generation, the danimal archive, all of Roissy/heartiste, the book of bonecrackr, the wisdom of pook, baumeister's what's so bad about men? listening to Tom leykis, etc

Someone was talking about how fucken horrible the sub was. I thought it would be good for a laugh. It's a pretty awesome place to be though it has been overtaken by people obsessed with anti-femist/MRA/ideological/scientific proofing etc. It makes me wonder how many people are just reading the red pill and not actually living it.

I found the sub after reading a few articles in CMV and seduction. As for the ideas themselves, I find them pretty common among my friends and most common among my female Asian friends.

Initially years ago a friend got into it - I was still anti RP then. More recently via a post in /r/childfree (bagging on RPW) - I went to look at RPW and from there started learning more.

I'm a supporter of the Men's Human Rights Movement, and Red Pill ideas have some overlap (at times, not necessarily in theory) with that.

I think sometimes the Red Pillers make an at least somewhat-valid point, although there is much scope for legitimate critique of their worldview.

R/seduction on an old account, I thought it was a sub for people that mastered the game and where either getting laid regularly or in LTR's so having not mastered the game I ignored it. Turned back onto it about a year ago by people hating on it in askreddit. It's really been a life changer.

I was accused of being a Red Pill guy on /relationships for stating that I didn't think girls who've fucked too many guys where any good for serious long term relationships.

Googled it, read it, thought "some of these guys are fucking retards, but they have qiute a few good points and philosophies". Posted there, got banned for not being Red Pill enough though.

In high school "The Game" came out and a friend talked about it alot. I figured that stuff probably worked but I didn't read it because I figured the techniques in it would become so common and cliché that people would spot them. The first time my thinking started aligning with Red Pill-philosophy was a bit earlier reading Playing to Win which is about competetive gaming. It teaches to not blame others for your own faults, to work consciously to improve yourself and not call strategy other people use "cheap". Finding the "community" didn't happen till I abandoned feminism and searching for critique I found http://therationalmale.com/ which was the first Red Pill writing that didn't put me off.

A week later, more people were bitching, so I checked it out and decided to actually sit down and read the post.

After that day I regularly read TRP daily.

I needed advice on how to deal with power struggles with women. I had always been super recessive and easygoing (that was how I was raised and my mom always fed me with the "Girls LOVE nice guys and hate guys who stick up for themselves."

So I went from one extreme to the other in an attempt to see a middle ground. Just because I am RP doesn't mean I agree with it, I just feel like I benefit the most from seeing both extremes so that I can perceive the middle ground. That is why I like Purple Pill Debate, its that happy medium.

Like, I thought it is something for all men... it turned out it is for the men who want to work out, have no strings attached sex, hate women and shame other men for being chumps. OK.

Sort of we need a "Manosphere 2" for the rest of us, the normal... like the excellent Art of Manliness website.
