With 100,000 subscribers and a common theme of field reports- can we say the anecdotes are finally amassing to useful data? Is it possible that the size and consistency of TRP's userbase is demonstrating that maybe the behaviors they observe are more common than you'd think?

Were there really threats to "ruin family and livelihood"?

Also most people have never heard of TRP. I never heard of it until a few months ago, and I've been on reddit like two years man. People don't care about TRP as much as you think.

[–]barbadosslim5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

My opinion is that this is classic feminism, when they can't address an argument head on, they resort to naming and shaming- the last bastion of hope for the out-argued.

this is what redpillers actually believe

[–]jacks10000 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

this is what redpillers actually believe

Not just red pillers, that stereotype about feminists is very common.

[–]shitpostwhispererReality Contrarian0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

From contrarians on reddit. Big whoop.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (33 children) | Copy Link

Heh, one idiot person with a brand new account made a post that purportedly doxxed someone (I didn't see it.) Ergo ABPALT! How do you know it wasn't done by the subject him/herself, just to get the BP sub banned. Really, you don't know. I don't know. But you are the one making the assumption that it must have been a true blue subscriber, and that all BP subscribers support this, and thus are bullies. Bless your heart, you tickle me pink all over.

[–]HarrietPotter9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Heh, one idiot person with a brand new account made a post that purportedly doxxed someone (I didn't see it.)

BP mod here. Nobody was doxxed. A BP n00b made an unintentionally threatening comment about someone in TRP and it was removed. That's it. No personal info has been revealed about anyone, RP or otherwise.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I believe you, but when you burn the thread you leave people with nothing but conjectures and people's imagination love to think the worst; so today you have this thread. A thread was removed here yesterday as well, and it was innocuous, but the mod here had no idea the size of the conflagration so it was gone.

[–]HarrietPotter1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, you're completely right about that. All I can say in our defence is that the mods at TBP are extremely anxious about anything that even vaguely resembles doxx. The redpillers saw something in TBP that they considered doxx, they overreacted, and then our mods overreacted in response. I can only apologize for the whole clusterfuck, but I want to assure you that nobody has been doxxed.

[–]pillburtRed Pill Mana mana[S] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link

This is not an isolated incident. There have been at least 3 since I've been around.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago* (28 children) | Copy Link

Acquaint me with the other 3, please. I know of one incident when somebody who modded TBP insinuated that she knows a reddit user's other online accounts because he used the same username. Ehh, I wouldn't do it, it's a little menacing but I don't think I can classify that as doxxing.

Another incident that had TRP clutching its collective pearls was when somebody in TBP posted chat images of his friend who was turning Red Pill and the names weren't redacted. How is that doxxing? Can anyone actually find "Waldo" or whatever his name was?

You guys have the biggest persecution complexes ever! The truth is, most people don't care about you guys IRL, because when you actually speak out the things you write out IRL, you sound terribly foolish. You know this, and keep mum about it.

Edit: Internet anonymity is a weird animal. "Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth" ... and all that good stuff, but there's absolutely no repercussion to disgusting speech. One can write the most hateful thing against another person and that's OK. The poster in question has sent an egregiously abusive PM to another user, which was posted in TBP, that started it all. Somehow calling someone cunt bitch fucktard or threatening to murder/rape them is more OK than saying I know who you really are. I understand the former carries no real life implication of violence and the latter insinuates it, but abusive speech inflicts real emotional hurt, otherwise people wouldn't do it. And the penalty for being a real jackass while anonymous is practically zero.

[–]cuittlerಠ_ಠ0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Wait, the guy used the same username on reddit and all his social media/public profiles and you call that doxxing? I could accidentally doxx someone just googling their reddit account if they're stupid enough to use the same username for every portal on the internet.

[–]assmunchinator2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think its pretty common for most people to use the same username for multiple outlets. For ease, and cause people get attached to their names. Most aren't really thinking about people hunting them down on multiple websites to harass them.

Doesn't excuse a mod of TBP threatening someone. It's not really a stretch when you're stalking peoples online profiles cause you're obsessed with what they say to eventually stalk their real life profile.

[–]cuittlerಠ_ಠ-1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Doesn't look like any threats were made, the mod just pointed out how easy it was to find the guys other accounts cause he had the same username all over the internet. It's kind of weird, I'd just ban the guy and move on not google him and try to scare him over PM...but if doxxing is posting personal info in the public eye, that guy wasn't doxxed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You can google them all you want, you just can't publish the information on Reddit. It's very weird, this persecution complex of doxxing. People who have had their comment history looked at, and have other people put two and two together about the information they themselves have revealed have claimed doxxing. A TRP mod went on an audio programme using a fake name, that information was posted to /r/theredpill (I don't recall if by him or by a user). But if somehow this information was unearthed in a search and reposted on Reddit, I'd think there'd be cries of OMG!!1!DOXXING and gnashing of teeth.

[–]cuittlerಠ_ಠ0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

you just can't publish the information on Reddit.

Makes sense, doesn't look like that's what happened in the image assmunchinator posted (still a bit creepy tho, there aren't any red pillers I care enough about to even google).

[–]assmunchinator2 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

this was a separate incident.

http://redditlog.com/snapshots/753077

I think it says somewhere in that log that she was banned on her main account.

[–]CFRProflcopter0 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Banned from where, though? /r/TheRedPill?

Regardless, if they banned her, it reinforces the fact that the mods are being sincere when they say they don't support doxxing.

We take it seriously as well. The user at fault for this particular incident was somewhat regular on PPD and we banned him/her.

[–]assmunchinator2 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I meant the account was shadowbanned.

I know you take it seriously. I think I wrote that to show that person was willing to doxx and was eventually banned for it.

Howcome this thread got deleted? to try and move past this doxx thing or to hide it or something?

[–]CFRProflcopter0 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Because we like to avoid SRD and the likes. No need to stir shit, since no one was actually doxxed. I just asked the OP to add an edit and clarify.

[–]clanktrees0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The person had access to publicly posted information, and stated that they would not doxx with it.

So what actions are actually representative of the userbase? That they are able to use Google search?

[–]assmunchinator1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That person doesn't seem hesitant at all to doxx someone. I think that user has been shadowbanned or just regularly banned from reddit for multiple doxxing incidents. Threatened to doxx someone. has information on the person. Doesn't seem like a stretch to say that they did/would doxx that person.

and yeah that users account page no longer exists so banned.

The person had access to publicly posted information, and stated that they would not doxx with it.

Thats kind of like a mugger holding a hostage at gun point and saying they wont kill the hostage.

[–]clanktrees0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That person doesn't seem hesitant at all to doxx someone.

The person explicitly said they wouldn't. We can debate whether or not they would, but going by what they said and the failure for them to follow through on doxxing of the individual in the ss, I don't see how you can make the conclusions you are making.

This is not akin to TRP mods being judged for what they said they WOULD do, or recounting what they HAVE done.

The reality is if you use same usernames for all your online content, you CAN be doxxed. But there is a difference between CAN, WOULD, and DID.

In this case, there was a CAN, but there was no WOULD or DID. You're reacting to CAN as if it was DID.

[–]assmunchinator2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sure, everyone has access to the CAN. Not everyone threatens with it. I don't think thats normal behavior.

The person had access to publicly posted information, and stated that they would not doxx with it.

Thats kind of like a mugger holding a hostage at gun point and saying they wont kill the hostage.

[–]clanktrees0 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Not everyone threatens with it

She didn't. She said she wouldn't dox. She was using the information to counter his claim that he was popular with women.

Thats kind of like a mugger holding a hostage at gun point and saying they wont kill the hostage.

No, it's like having possession of a gun.

Based on your logic, some TRP mods made claims that seemed to advocate/defend rape. So, based on your logic, I should just jump to the assumption that they would rape and did rape and that all the members of TRP are rapists. Right?

Wrong. I think you're reaching for a lot of straws and should stop.

[–]assmunchinator1 point 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Holding information over someone and saying they could use that information but won't is threatening.

Either way that user was banned for similar doxxing type issues.

you can read more in this thread.

http://redditlog.com/snapshots/753077

This is what the one threatened said

"I didn't say they doxxed me, I said she threatened. She made it known to me that she had found my photobucket account (old and from 2004-07 and has pictures of me from H.S. when I was a minor) She also mentions finding my "real name" in this screenshot. She is only telling me this so I will be afraid of her doxxing me. She is letting me know that she has my doxx. I think it is pretty clear in her own words what she is threatening."

Based on your logic, some TRP mods made claims that seemed to advocate/defend rape.

Show me a post where mods advocated rape where they were obviously serious. Someone saying something tongue-in-cheek is not encouraging someone to rape.

[–]pillburtRed Pill Mana mana[S] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I will have to look for evidence of the first one- unfortunately I think it was all deleted when it happened.

The truth is, most people don't care about you guys IRL, because when you actually speak out the things you write out IRL, you sound terribly foolish. You know this, and keep mum about it.

Well it looks like there's a handful of subreddits full of people who don't think that (/r/purplepilldebate, /r/thebluepill...) that care quite a bit and are utterly obsessed with arguing about it. If they really thought red pillers were just losers in real life that get nowhere, they wouldn't pay any attention to us.

[–]BakerofpieRed Pill Woman1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As far as clutching our collective pearls over basically nothing, when you hide something people are always going to assume the worst. The thread was deleted and by everyone's reaction (including within TBP) I thought she had been outright doxxed. It's a pretty reasonable assumption given the information.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If I remember correctly, that whole doxxing incident was just linking to a RP woman's blog. Hardly doxxing if you ask me, but I think the mods over at tbp just made that post to protect themselves.

[–]GODZILLAFLAMETHROWERBlue Pill Man4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

since it would get them kicked off of reddit if they kept it

Or, you know, since they don't want doxxing to happen.

How is that not a hate crime? (...) Is there any moral superiority for blue pill ... ?

Yeah, speaking of moral superiority and trying to out-smug each other, TRP sure seems to care a whole lot about morality for an amoral guide to being an asshole.

Now as for the matter of concern (yeah, your petty namecalling is so productive, we immediately feel your will to discuss)

they'll stoop so low as to try to ruin people's livelihoods and families?

I guess you didn't read the thread you linked where TBP condemned the action of the few (or the one) who did it? Or are you so hell-bent toward their demonization that you will simply deny anything that contradict this beautiful and comforting narrative? (That's such a feminist and leftist reaction! Hold your frame FFS!)

[–]CFRProflcopter( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°)2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Please edit your post. To our knowledge no one was actually doxxed. No need to stir up rage, at least not in OUR subbreddit.

It appears that a user posted a comment from a Rpers social networking site on /r/TheBluePill. No public information beyond that was revealed. The user who posted the comment has been banned from Purple Pill Debate. Additional disciplinary action was taken in /r/TheBluePill, although the mods did not reveal the precise details.

Your edit is ridiculous.

It has been noted, no doxxing was allowed to take place, the blue pill mods squashed it before any doxxing took place.

As far as we know, no doxxing was even considered. You seem to take it as a given that it would have without intervention. This thread and the one in TRP is a farce.

[–]CFRProflcopter( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°)0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I tend to agree with you, so I removed the thread a second time.

[–]violet90Purple Pill1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not even sure any doxxing occured here. It looks like a brand new Redditor posted some detail about a poster and was immediately shut down by the BP mods. Which is exactly what they should have done and seems to be more of an argument against BP being bullies than for it. If BP were regularly calling for the doxxing of (and then doxxing) their ideological enemies you'd have a point but until then this is the internet and Reddit is anonymous so the best any sub can do is try to shut that shit down as soon as they get a whiff of it. Which BP did.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Read the article I linked to and you will see why I feel your comment is absurd, and actually adds validity to my point.

[–]clanktrees3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

First of all, I don't think anyone is quelling TRP. I think they are responding to it.

Second of all, they respond antagonistically to it because it's incorrect and damaging, not because it's "offensive."

Third of all, your claim that BP'ers fall largely into that category needs an argument if not evidence, especially considering you identify with a group of people that has nothing but derogatory terms for anyone who disagrees with them (mangina, beta, omega, feminazi, femicunt, etc), and who strictly police their subreddit for any dissenting opinion (something they have a right to do, but nevertheless is relevant to this context).

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

I'm trying to say that it is popular among the left to crucify anyone with a opinion that stands against the status quo.

First of all, I don't think anyone is quelling TRP. I think they are responding to it.

They are trying to quell it by doxxing an individual through public shaming, for example.

Second of all, they respond antagonistically to it because it's incorrect and damaging, not because it's "offensive."

This is not how the idea of Free Speech works. The current status quo believes that it does but I don't believe this was the Founding Fathers intent to quiet someone because the majority of society feels that what they are saying is 'incorrect' & 'damaging'. The left believes that an individual has the right to express them self in such a way, that they should be allowed to change their sex through surgery(not saying I necessarily disagree) but the ultimate form of expression, using ones word, suddenly has some arbitrary limitations?

Third of all, your claim that BP'ers fall largely into that category needs an argument if not evidence, especially considering you identify with a group of people that has nothing but derogatory terms for anyone who disagrees with them (mangina, beta, omega, feminazi, femicunt, etc), and who strictly police their subreddit for any dissenting opinion (something they have a right to do, but nevertheless is relevant to this context).

The poll held here in June shows that most BP'ers fall to the left of the political spectrum

[–]clanktrees1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm trying to say that it is popular among the left to crucify anyone with a opinion that stands against the status quo.

It's popular among any side/ideology that has strong views to crucify the opposing side. TRP is no different.

They are trying to quell it by doxxing an individual through public shaming, for example.

There was no doxxing, there was a link to a blog post, which was removed and the individual banned, as it should have been. For the record, TRP is not above such actions. I've seen Craigslist ads, Facebook profiles, OKCupid profiles, emails, pictures, etc linked. I've seen support in favor of revenge porn.

You are not discussing a "BP" thing, you are discussing a "people with strong views" thing.

And again, I am not arguing for cenorship. I am saying, your claim that people's problems with TRP stem from the content being too offensive is incorrect, and that it is because the content is false and damaging. I never made a stance on the validity of censoring it. I will make it now - I am not in favor of censoring. TRP has the right to freedom of speech within legal boundaries that everyone else has.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

False and damaging to who, though? I believe TRP'ers, like myself, will say it has had a positive impact on our lives.

[–]clanktrees1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To non-Red Pillers I guess?

I think this is coming to the root of the real issue, which isn't about a censorship so much as a desire for acceptance/agreement.

You have right to say what you wish but people have the right to form their own opinions about what you're saying, some of which won't be warm and fuzzy. Some people think that TRP is false and damaging, and they are typically the ones with a problem with TRP (for the record, I do think factuality can be formally addressed via science).

Just as TRP believes that, for example, women who do not marry in their early 20's is a lifestyle choice deserving of extreme degradation and criticism.

Let's not pretend like TRP ideology is one built on tolerance.

But judgement/criticism/expressing distaste is not the same as censorship.

So it would seem you are also against people having the freedom to practice their religions?

[–]clanktrees2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not sure where you draw that conclusion from.

I never advocated censorship or lack of religious freedom. I only clarified what most people's problems with TRP are, and answered your question.

You were attempting to justify progressives' desire to quell and shame all speech they find offensive by correcting it and saying that it's, in fact, incorrect speech they're trying to quell, as though to add validity to the censorship.

If you're not in favor of it, you probably shouldn't have tried to justify the behavior.

Nobody is trying to take away your legal freedom of speech. People arguing against you and saying you're wrong isn't "censorship". Stop being hyperbolic. Everything is so melodramatic with y'all.

No, I only corrected the word "offensive." TRP'ers tend to believe their views are just "harsh truth" that everyone else is too sensitive to. I was clarifying that's not the case. If I wanted to justify censorship, I would have done so.

If you're not in favor of it, you probably shouldn't have tried to justify the behavior.

And you shouldn't project arguments into people's posts that aren't there.

The last time I checked, Red Pillers are free to state whatever they wish, within legal boundaries that everyone is subjected to. The difference comes in the fact that there TRP's have an expectation that others have to like what they're saying and refrain from judgement.

You can say what you wish, but others can have a problem with what you've said. They don't have a right to quell your right to say it, but they have a right to challenge the claims.

It's the ultimate in cowardice- removing any privacy/safety from someone they disagree with while hiding safely behind their numbers and aliases. Nothing more than your standard internet tough guy, except with added holier than thou.

There is DEFINITELY a moral superiority stance in TBP. But I don't think most of them are bullies. Part of that feeling of moral superiority involves some of them wanting to "save" us (particularly RPW), so I don't think they're bullying so much as butting in where they aren't wanted to provide us help that we don't need. It's annoying, but fairly innocuous.

It becomes much easier to use more and more aggressive tactics when you believe morality is on your side. That's why I think you're more likely to see doxxing from TBP side. TRP has no moral stance, so are less likely to feel such an extreme need to "expose" people in the hopes of showing others the light and shutting down what they see as an immoral system. But like I said, that's a minority of BP users. I certainly don't think most of them would do us harm, and from what I've seen when people get truly hateful and say outright cruel things about specific individuals on our "side" they get called out on it and are told that it's fucked up behavior.

It's akin to TRP becoming utilizing more and more aggressive tactics when they hold the belief that the "truth" is on their side.

TRP has posted personally revealing information numerous times before, has harassed commentators/OP's of other subreddits, and has brigaded subreddits/websites.

This is not a "BP" only thing. This is a strong beliefs thing.

all internet people are somewhat bullies...I've never men a person under 289 that is more polite on the internet than in real life.

I think BPers are of the same conglomerate, ideology, and tactical mindset listed and used by several other bully subs (SRS, cringepics, AMR, etc) so I think they are bullies in that manner. The post from Spittin_Venom about there desire to shame and quell and speech they dont like is spot on. I think that the driving motive seems to arrive with a particular brand of hatred and passion that they dont mind if it extends pass the online realm and into the physical.

I think calling TRP "rape strategy" is a little over the top. It's one thing to say TRP is reactionary, stupid, or mean but I think the level of hyperbole is extreme when you start calling stuff "rape strategy" in this context. For all the awareness of internet attacks on women, RPW have been attacked more harshly than anything else I've seen on reddit.

[–]clanktrees0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not really. One isolated individual linked to someone's blog and was promptly banned.

On the contra side, I've seen multiple instances of TRP linking to people's blogs, Craigslist ads, Facebook profiles, OkCupid profiles, etc, so even this one isolated incident is hardly a "BP" thing. Granted, even on TRP most of those were removed/banned, but some have slipped through and remained posted.
