First husband was an Earl. According to rumour she cheated on him with a Count. Then divorced him after eleven years of marriage. She was thirty-two.

Wall, what wall? Her second husband, a wealthy industrialist left his wife for her. All her family money was lost in the Wall St crash but her husband still had money so all was good. They both overspent though, so started having money problems.

She met the future King of England three years later and negged him. The quote I read went something like 'I always wanted to meet a King and now that I have it's a disappointment.'

She wasn't especially beautiful or rich nor politically astute or pleasant natured. She was his mistress, he became King, she divorced her husband, he abdicated and they got married. She was 41.

Apparently she was a complete bitch who used to kick the King of England under the table when he said things she didn't like, socialised with Hitler and went on shopping sprees while England was enduring rationing and the Royal Family stayed in London during the Blitz.

She never did become Queen but she was Duchess of Windsor.

Outside of the 1% (5%? 10%?) I doubt this is common. A marriage, kids and a career starting at a young age? Where would she find the time/energy? Most women i know with kids and a husband alone are pretty exhausted and not exactly focused on getting dick outside the relationship. If she can afford to pay nannies to raise her children and doesn't need to work to support them, and if she's in a bad marriage, then I can see it happening for sure. Someone below posted the example of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and she's a classic femme fatale, imo. She rides the carousel, has babies by different men - I think she was at one point sleeping with a fairly famous in France father and son duo - lands a head of state and settles down - or, appears to settle down. I think she was also one of the contributing factors to Mick Jagger's breakup with Jerry Hall. Different women want different things. I am not telling you what you want, I am describing a way of looking at how women overall select mates.

There are other ways of looking at it which can also be valid. Some discuss women's menstrual cycles and their preference for masculine men when ovulating, others focus on how women in safe urban areas prefer effeminate men while women in dangerous regions prefer men with sharp, frightening features. There is also a dichotomy between a thin, rugged "love 'em and leave 'em" type that women prefer to get pregnant by, and a rounder stay-at-home / safe-around-kids type they prefer to raise their family and grow old with.

In any event, focusing on Alpha, Beta and Omega:

Alpha females only want Alpha males. They have high standards and they can reach them. They react to sexual displays from Betas and Omegas with aggression, but might choose to have secret (often reproductive) affairs with other Alphas despite maintaining a "monogamous" relationship with another (this was only recently discovered, previously they had been assumed to be strictly monogamous).
A Beta will only accept an Alpha or another Beta, and tends towards exclusive monogamy (and expects the same in return).
An Omega will accept another Omega, but would prefer a Beta (or an Alpha if they can get them). They will have (often not-too-secret) affairs with anyone who gets them aroused, regardless of their relationship status.

It is different for males, and for female-female relationships.
