I (28F) have been with my bf(30M) for 4 years, although we have been friends for 10. He is an alpha male, a great catch, and was spinning many plates before committing to me. We had a very rocky first 3 years, full of fighting mainly because I was very stubborn and not submissive. The biggest fight ended in a 4 month break where during that time I found RPW, and started working extensively on myself based on the teachings. Miraculously I managed to win him back and realised that all the traits of a RPW is what he was trying to tell me he wanted from the vey start. For about 8-9 months it was pretty smooth sailing. He even told me he was planning on picking out rings towards the end of the year.

However just when things started going well, and him treating me extra nicely, I self sabotaged all my efforts by slowly reverting back to my old self. We bicker about it, I'll apologize and be extra good for a week or two, then the old me starts to come out again. He's begun to say that being submissive will never come naturally to me and he's scared after marriage I will totally change back to how I was before. Today we had a huge fight like how we used to, and he said marriage is now off the table for at least a year till I can show him some real improvement.

Everything he says has a point. I agree with all the theories behind being a RPW and I so badly want to be that kind of person, both for him and for myself. But as much as I try I still fail, and him being disappointed and berating me when I do really gets to me. I feel like I'm slowly losing part of my soul and who I am while being with this guy.

What should I do? How can I be more consistent? It's true the qualities of a RPW are not qualities I was brought up to have. Is there anyone here who feels like being a RPW isn't who they truly are, and that they're living a lie?
