Hey, look, I've been poking around on google and this subreddit for a while trying to find a satisfactory answer to my worries/ probably invalid insecurities and all I can find is some "studies" or short articles all citing different info so here it goes:

You see, I'm a 24 y/o shy nerdy man that's never been with a woman. In the past let's say 2 years I've wondered what was I doing with my life. From 16 to ~22 I've been going to college and the rest of my time has been spent playing video games. I consumed some RP content and improved myself. I lift, lost somewhat close to 50pounds, etc etc. I actually started to feel nice about myself.

But every time I think about creating an online dating profile to FINALLY meet someone of the opposite sex, I just stop. I think about all my flaws (I'm 5 ft 4, hairy, whatever whatever). The point is, after looking at the divorce rate (48%) in my country of Canada from stats of 2016 and other articles on the 1st page of google about infidelity rates, it feels like EVERYONE is cheating left and right at one point or another in their lifetime. Some say it's close to 25% others more like 70%. Numbers don't lie right?

I mean, I haven't even STARTED to date at all and I already think that I'm doomed to be cheated on. I don't like this hookup culture, I seriously would like to find a life partner, you know? Someone you share your life with, a girlfriend that turns into the mother of your children and you stay together for 40-50-70+ years together. Casual sex and cheating is just not part of my sets of values. I know it's possible, well at least my grandparents did it! And in my family, in a nice small suburb, I don't think I can suspect anyone (aunts, uncles, cousins etc) to be cheaters, they all seems pretty monogamous. At least in appearance. Could it all be a lie?

In closing, I don't know if I'm seriously overthinking this issue or if I should just remain single all my life. I want something that I don't know if it's still possible to achieve in this day and age. A faithful partner. So simple yet hard to achieve right? Send help haha I want to die. Honestly I don't even trust people anymore. It's just this fear of being with someone for years and finding out that they've been seeing someone else this whole time, or finding out that your children are not even yours. This fear/thought is spreading in every sphere of my life. I don't lift or study as hard now. I just feel more and more worthless by the day. It's just weird I can't even describe it. Like a tumor branching into every activities that you do. At least when laughing with friends around a few beers I forget about my worries for a moment. I'm going to stop now this subreddit is not a personal journal.

Is there something I can do? Can I change my train of thought?
