I got an abortion to avoid giving an abusive NVM a child he didn't deserve. It is the hardest thing I've ever done and I'll have to live with it for the rest of my life, but I earnestly believe that if you have children you have a moral obligation to do everything in your power to give them a HV father. If you reproduce with a LVM (or worse) they will abandon, neglect, mistreat, or flat out abuse your child/ren.

Honestly, it’s because of stone-cold, completely indisputable facts like these that child custody laws MUST be overhauled.

A man contributes VIRTUALLY NOTHING to the creation of a child. Nothing.

A woman, on the other hand, ENDANGERS HER VERY EXISTENCE by carrying a child to term and through birth. (Never mind the irrevocable changes childbirth does to a woman’s body even when it’s “uncomplicated”.)

So why the fuck are mothers forced to share child rearing with sociopaths who were smart enough not to leave physical marks?

The moment I was standing in front of an old male white judge and told that I would share 50/50 custody with sexual deviant who contributed nothing (even after birth) in childcare because “a child needs both parents”, I understood the injustice of the patriarchy. In my BONES, I understood it.

As a white woman, I'm curious. Are ladies of colour more likely to experience worse than white women due to healthcare, biology, or a little of both? I tried to Google my question, but got results medical journals etc that I really don't understand.

I agree that this is a really important issue. I'm not sure if links are allowed, but if anyone wants to donate to help black women afford doulas and post-partum counseling, mommybrain.com is collecting funds for that. Having someone there to advocate for the mother can help turn this around.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately and how younger women aren’t told about these risks. People tend not to talk about them and treat it as taboo. Young women need to be aware that even if you survive, there can be terrible consequences too.

I have a friend in her 40’s who married a HVM and had two kids. The kids are healthy but my friend has been suffering with pain and bleeding between periods for a long time, finally culminating in her having to have a hysterectomy. She’s fortunate to have good health care and money to deal with this, but it has still been absolutely miserable for her. People rarely talk about how much women can suffer even much later after the births themselves.
