I am proud of you for moving out. You shouldn't have sent him the rent though since you are not going to stay in the house. He should never feel that you are scared of him or else he will make sure to use it against you. Just call the cops on his ass if he ever does anything again and keep everything documented for proof.

My mom was the one who advised me to send it to him because she overheard us fighting about it and him saying how unfair it was etc that I blindsided him and put him in the position that he now has to pay for full rent etc and he was angry. My friend agrees its for the best :(

In general, only you are in a position to judge whether your partner is physically abusive or a serious risk to become so.

But if you believe you are in danger, then whether you are or not, it's probably time to seek a relationship with someone else who inspires your trust instead.

A man who blames others for his own loss of self-control is not much of a man. He's certainly not a Captain. It doesn't sound like a safe or welcoming relationship.

Devil's advocate. Did you push him well past the point where you should have STFU? Did you aggravate him and not let something go until he could not take it anymore? I ask, not to justify his reaction, but to explain it. In other words, did you poke and prod and provoke? Because your actions could be part of the problem.

Women tend to use passive-aggressiveness instead of actual aggressiveness, and we as a society tend only to condemn actual aggression. But passive-aggressiveness can be as emotionally harmful as physical aggression can be physically harmful. Did you contribute?
