Well if we're actively in an arguement then neither of us want it so I haven't had it come up. In a healthy relationship- I think sex can wait until afterwards. Otherwise sex can become the default way to avoid problems rather than solve them. I dont want sex to be a crutch. We always solve conflict the same day.

A man that sees himself as your protector should not be making demands of your intimacy that are hard for you to meet. The answer to this question varies from couple to couple. It can be healthy both ways -- it depends on YOU, and also the thing you're arguing about!

Some women, as one poster in this thread, can have sex in an argument. It can help the couple feel like it is "us against the problem" or a reminder that the union matters more. For these women, the physiological "arousal" of an argument (higher pulse, adrenaline, etc) can tie easily into sexual arousal.

Other women feel personally hurt during arguments or disagreements. I bet more women are in this category. We physically can't feel aroused while hurt.

If a man were to initiate with this second type of woman, it shows he is not functioning in a protector mindset. Having sex without arousal is painful and basically being "used". In that case, she needs to enforce her boundaries. Remember that you offer submission only to a man that has shown a track record of being a leader and protector for you.

Now, not all disagreements will end in you getting entirely your way. However, all disagreements should end in you two agreeing on a solution, and if you are the one that made a compromise, he must also provide extra comfort and reassurance that your concerned are in his range of vision. You should be able to move on from a disagreement without resentment or anger or hurt feelings. This should allow you to be sexually receptive again. If, after you feel better, you're still tempted not to sleep with him to "teach him a lesson", then it becomes withholding sex.

I’m 20 and I’ve been with my boyfriend for 2 years. Most of the time during an argument my boyfriend and I will drop arguing and have sex (it’s about 50/50 with who initiates) and afternoon we have sex we are able to talk through the argument more calmly and together. 🤷🏼‍♀️

No. There is a time and a place. If my husband wanted to make love while we were actively arguing, I would be concerned about 1) why he found arguing with me arousing and 2) that he might be trying to solve emotional problems physically. Both of those things are red flags.

Do you mean literally in a discussion right there? No, that is weird. Though, I will point out, flashing your boobs/butt is a great way to defuse a discussion that's turning argumentative.

Do you mean "in an argument" like an ongoing discussion with big disagreements? In which case: a) do not have those. You and your partner should be on the same team, don't let things (aside from biiiiig discussions on Big Topics) last for more than a day. And b) of course you should still be loving, including physically loving, when you are having a discussion over the course of several days, assuming you can enjoy it. It's one of the best ways to reconnect and clarify that you're on the same team.

I had an ex that would always want sex during a fight, or to resolve one, but it was an unhealthy and abusive relationship. My husband who treats me right, will have no interest in sex when fighting. It's a healthy relationship but not gonna lie, I miss the angry aggressive sex.

No, but we also try not to let arguments go on that long. We often have sex after arguing is resolved.

I don’t believe your boyfriend or husband should be getting aroused by getting angry with you. Make up sex, however, is an amazing thing.
