I live in Japan and I can confirm. Two things, both extremely common, to complete the picture:
1)Japanese women will not just enjoy watching tv drama and eating at fancy restaurants while their betabux are working: they have fun with Chad and they also use their husbands' money to spoil their fuckboy(s)
2) Western naive men come here thinking they will find their unicorn......and get screwed up worse than they'd have in their home countries.

Wow, this is like the US, except worse. I can see it getting this bad here, and that may already be the case in some cities. When feminism teaches women to treat men like subhumans to just be exploited for money, is it any wonder so many men are dropping out? I dropped out of the dating pool even before I knew there was a thing called MGTOW. If you work your ass off and your wife just gets all the money, why work at all? Or why marry at all? Japan's birthrate is declining. No shit. Make to a disaster for men to marry and have kids and men will stop doing that. Japan might be able to stave off the problems of declining birth rates through immigration from places like Korea and China ... or even Europe or America? (Not sure on that -- or are they too racist to accept white people?)

You'll notice that politicians and pundits will blame a birth rate decline on anything except the real culprit. They'll claim the government needs to just give yet more money to women. That might boost the birth rate a little, but it will be mothers opting for single motherhood and raising kids with no father so that they'll be the most spineless cucks you've ever seen. Then those dudes will find it impossible to attract any woman, and it will just get worse generation after generation until you've got a small number of young workers getting gouged to care for the elderly.

I have been to Japan multiple times and I love visiting Japan, their culture, their food, the travels, etc. However I would never live in Japan. I have spent a lot of time chatting with guys from Japan who had borderline wives, and the way the system is biased towards women, especially if you have kids, is horrific. There was one guy who was regularly punched, kicked, hit with blunt objects, hit with sharp objects, and when he went to the cops with injuries, and one time even while bleeding, they just laughed at him. One of the kinder cop warned him that if he pushes with trying to charge her, they would have to ask her for her side of the story, and all she has to say is "He initiated it" and they would haul his ass to the jail.

Divorce takes insane amount of time. Literally, you need your wife's permission to divorce. Took him 2 years for divorce to finalize, and it only happened because a lot of people in similar situation gave him solid advice as to how to keep her crazy down and keep her relatively happy in the last stages. He had to give up pretty much everything he owned, and move into a shithole. Everytime she let him see the kids, they would berate him for being horrible, and at one point he just didnt want to see them anymore, but he would still keep his visitation, otherwise the judge would take that away completely, and count it against him.

In the end when he had no savings, no assets, no house, and a shithole to live in, he was the happiest.

There is a reason why the herbivore men in Japan took off earlier than MGTOW did in the west.

It's a scary problem because Japan anime media is one of the few forms of media that hasn't been completely corrupted by feminism (western movies, comics, video games, etc., have all been coopted by feminism). If Japan collapses, we won't really have much left for media.

At this point, it's a race to the artificial womb so these countries can actually prop up their birth rate. But we've only got a generation or two before we completely die out and get overtaken by the mooslims.

Finally someone who points out how in Japan the women are put on a pedestal only because they have a pussy. I grew up watching a lot of anime series and noticed the gynocentric messages in various anime series. I almost had to puke several times even when watching hits like Demon Slayer or Naruto. The simping is just unbelievable. I could name you dozens of other anime series that follow the same pattern of pussy worshipping. I almost lost all of my interest in the genre. There are still quite a few good animes that dont follow this stupid pattern though.

Funnily enough in my experience living here Ive never paid for women and Ive been on tonnes of dates and fucked a lot of them. Now Japanese guys here on the other hand just as a given pay. They just will pay and wont take no for an answer. Its just automatically assumed.

However for me I dont. I make sure to split the bill every time I go out and it still works fine for me. Turns out if a woman wants to fuck you she will do so regardless of if you pay. You still see pussy worship, but in many animes women are just there for eye candy or, at best, walking stereotypes. It creeps in to modern ones as well, but when you realize that those characters exist merely because the artist liked the way they looked, it makes it easier to watch. Wish I still had the picture, but many young men don't even try to date women anymore because anime/hentai has what they need without the hassle.
