In the company I work for, the management is logging the rationale for every role where the candidate hired is not a female, for all roles except junior roles.

This actually means that besides the diversity hires, which are all women, let's be honest, the company will ask hireing managers to sweat up a reason for why the incompetent candidate with a vagina, was not given the job.

Btw, you have to understand that this is all planned. Have you ever seen industry wide practices being ubiquitous for all companies, even when the law doesn't prescribe them?

The senior overlords elites decided long time ago that the state has to provide for women the same level of life as men have, be like men, in the name of "equality" meaning subsidising their life, free from children, and putting them in front, in roles just because we are "moral beings" while forgetting our biology.

Guess why you need all those immigrants to do the menial jobs?! Because we are engineering society at a level never seen before.

A sobering read. When we hear about engineering failures and how they are explained away, now I am always going to wonder what percentage of those failures were due to companies responding to political pressure to hire for diversity rather than competence.

I think it was Keynes who said that debasing the currency destroyed the economy without most people understanding what's happening. We are now seeing the debasement of our technical and engineering infrastructure, and it's not going to be pretty.

I can't understand this. Do companies want to get the job done, or to look good on paper?

And if they say the latter, why?? What is more important than doing the job your clients are paying you to do?? Even if there's a benefit to looking good on paper, surely at some point the job to be done will be absolutely vital to your company's survival?

And then when (not if!) you can't do it because you hired the wrong people, you're utterly fucked. Right?

I just don't get it. Why hire for anything but competence? Who even cares what that competent employee looks like anymore, so long as they can do the job and do it well?

This fucking world, man. smh

I have two white sons, 6 and 8...... I truly fear for their future. I drop hints at them all the time about women, nothing too intense, just subtle to not upset their mom. I'm hoping I can teach them what I do and they take an interest so they can just do their own thing. Be their own boss, the problem is even in the world now.... people choose to do business with someone's business because it's women owned, minority owned, blah blah blah. Luckily with what I do, there's not a lot of women in this industry and not a lot of snow flakes in it either. Good luck and keep up entertained on your new quota hires.

My sincere advice for you - try and establish a freelancing consultancy as soon as you can. GYOW even at workplace. Dont work for anyone, because workplace is becoming a minefield. Being a s/w guy, this is very doable but I see too many of my friends complacent with their good paying jobs. Its a tough road, but when you make it, its far more rewarding than working for someone else.

"Upper class salary"

Ok I'm pissing into the wind here, but I'm bemused by people's use of the terms middle or upper class to refer the salary they happen to the making at one particular moment.

The idea is that a class is a CLASS of people, while jobs and salaries come and go. And the idea of the upper class is that they are the dominant elite of society. The upper class have mansions and don't need a salary, they have assets and investments. And their drug addict jobless son is still upper class, even if he's broke and has to go begging to daddy.

I just had to mention this, as I see it so often. You don't go from middle to upper to lower to middle class in 5 years because you changed jobs a few times.

We are witnessing the start of the slippery slope. In a few years, once a lot of these women have spent some years in their role and take on more initiatives, we will witness more engineering failures and misdiagnosis due to diversity hires and gender quotes (instead of hiring the best candidate)

My advice: your line of work is rocket science for me. Just keep shining at it and let those moron go to waste. If they want to hire lowlifes, just move on. This is the biggest wakeup call for a lot of men. Loss of livelihood and loss of their children through divorce wakes them the fuck up and they see how the game is stacked against men. This is happening more and more and it's going to start a societywide change.

Start your own thing my man. Not sure if contracting is common in your industry there, rather than working on salary/staff. But in my industry (I do technical drawings in a specialized area of construction), all the best people have their own company and work on a project by project basis. You are expected to work as much as it takes to hit the deadlines and get paid by the hour, at a very respectable rate. If you're not up to scratch, you are out the door.

This goes to everyone reading. Once you've paid your dues and have good experience in your field, it's amazing to be paid solely for what you do. This also means that you don't have to be involved in company politics, and your client doesn't really have to include you in "diversity", as they are hiring your company on paper, and not an individual. As long as you are good and don't let people down, you will find work. They also don't have to pay me holidays or sick pay.

As a side note, I've only ever worked with one woman who is at the same level as me and my closest colleagues, in 20 years in this job. I put that down more to construction not really being a field many women are naturally attracted to.
