I'm an extrovert. I love being around people, meeting new girls, and impressing people. Friday and Saturday nights I'm almost always out trying to be around girls (and guys) that I've never met before. One thing that has helped me reach this point was I first had to be comfortable being alone.

DON'T PANIC. One thing that I did when I was a beta was panic whenever I was alone. Alone at a party, alone at work, alone in my apartment. Thoughts would race through my mind like "why is no one talking to me?" "I bet other people think I'm weird" "I wish I could be like so and so he's always talking to someone."

Just post up somewhere and chill for a second. If there's music playing-listen to it, if there's a picture on the wall- go look at it, sip on your drink for a little, go grab some fresh air, etc etc

DO YOUR OWN THING. Be in your own world. People are gravitated to this. I promise someone will approach you at some point and ask "what are you looking at?" "What are you thinking about?"

All in all, you don't have to be surrounded with people or the center of attention 24/7. Analyze other people. Be observant. Plan your next move. It's okay to be alone.
