Little things can become big things, but only if it appears that another person doesn't give one shit about how you feel about it.

If a little thing is noticed, like a toilet seat (and I'm talking about roommates), the only rational and reasonable approach is to ask kindly that the other person leaves it down, because statistically the majority of toilet visits will require it down.

If the other person doesn't care at all, then you can escalate, but if it gets as far as demands like that.. you either go further into your relationship knowing it's going to get very ugly, or you get out while you can.

As I see it, you have a couple of options here......... a) Realise your GF is just another self-entitled princess and next her. Ahhhh, the classic toilet seat battle.

The only manner by which women can justify their positions, in a utilitarian manner, is with the argument that, 100% of the time, they use the toilet with the seat down, whereas men use the toilet with the seat down some of the time and up most of the time. So, in a given household, perhaps it makes sense to have a "seat down" policy since most use is seat-down.

However... from another perspective... who the fuck cares??? Men must frequently lift and lower the seat, so must women, it's not something one should even think twice about, it's inconsequential. Women make a fucking mountain range out of an anthill with this. And then... one of the most fucking mindboggling phenomena related to this is when women... somehow... fall in the fucking toilet.... how the fuck does anyone, who's not intoxicated, manage to do this?? Do women walk backwards, pants down, into dark bathrooms?? What a fucking stupid thing to do.

The solution is easy, common sense, really:

Step 1: Enter the bathroom facing forward
Step 2: Turn on the light if it's dark
Step 3: Look at the toilet, check for seat position, bugs, sufficient toilet paper, etc.
Step 4: Adjust things accordingly and without much thought
Step 5: Stand up/sit down, push waste out of your body
Step 6: Leave the seat down/up, put the seat down/up, who cares
Step 7: Wash your hands and exit bathroom
Step 8: Forget about the fucking seat position and go about your day
