What should be done about the dearth of women in the plumbing field? What about the lack of female electricians? How do we attract more women to construction, roofing, commercial fishing, sanitation, and sewage treatment?

Oh God..another women in tech article. Gender doesn't matter in the tech industry. If you know your stuff then you'll be fine.

The reason why women don't go into these fields is because things have a specific structure that has to be followed. A set of rules.

They cannot make up shit as they go along while configuring network equipment or writing code for an application like they do in social studies.

Women can do technology based jobs if they have the skill. I've been around a few so I know that at least a few women are capable. The majority of women now in university are quite simply, not intelligent. They do not have the required skills or creativity to make it and be successful in I.T.

In I.T. you're either right or wrong. The router or programming language doesn't give a shit about your feelings.

I watch Shark Tank a lot, and there are plenty of female started/run businesses that go on to do well.

I have yet to see one company where the tech, to a woman, is more than a means to an end.

It's not about capability, it's about the basic choices women make. There's nobody holding them down, they just choose to go into different fields, and when they do go into STEM fields, they have far higher acceptance rates because of gender/race quotas and affirmative action. To force them to go into fields they wouldn't choose themselves is fascist and is what the feminazi camp wants.

When I started in tech there were plenty of women. They were nearly all Asian or Eastern European / Russian, a couple Indians. American women? Almost zilch. That's because programming was for nerds, and until 5-10 years ago, nerds were in no way worthy of the attention of the typical American woman. The idea that men kept them away from their tech career aspirations is utterly ludicrous. They HATED the smart and nerdy engineering stuff and had no interest in this career. If you wanted to make a woman run away immediately express an interest in these things openly. Things are different now and the women writing these articles look everywhere but in the mirror for the blame. I have worked with some brilliant women there is no barrier to anyone who has the actual skills. Most of these women in the early days and plenty of "diverse" talent had to be imported on H1B visas. Not enough people here had the skills and companies went to great lengths to find those people. Tech has always been diverse and gender agnostic.

There are female ceo companies like Piazza which a lot of univeity uses. I wish people recognize female in power.
