Funny thing I observed was that the sales on Gillette products were crazy after the controversy hit. Stuff didn’t move. It was awesome to see people vote with their dollars.

20 years ago Gillette mailed me a free Mach 3 razor. I tried it and liked it, and since I'm a creature of habit, I spent the next 20 years using it, buying replacement razors at $35 a pack every few months or so.

After they insulted me, I dumped all their stuff in the trash, and went with a safety razor. I will never use them again. I should have quit years ago just as the expense was so high, but like a lot of folks I was stuck in a rut.

They have to know that they torpedoed themselves. I haven't heard them admit it, but their follow up commercials seemed to try to pull back. It's too late. I wonder if they'll rebrand or spin off or go out of business in my lifetime. I'd like to see that.

I used to work for one of these fast moving consumer goods companies. Although it was Unilever, and not P&G, I expect the corporate culture was pretty similar - full of ''creative' marketing women who were utterly devoid of talent and were still screwing their way to the top of the pile. It's not 'Mad Men' who are defining society now, it's mad women, and, this time, the epithet is justified. They lack vision, logic or strategy, and would have been patting themselves on the back for this campaign, while shooting themselves in the foot. Where is the Western World going to be in ten years? Down the toilet would be my best guess.

Still working through my existing stash. I'm to cheap to throw them away since those blades are expensive. Bought a huge stash 2 or 3 years ago in a discount. They last me roughly 1 month. But I'm already having my eye on WS. I triple checked: no connections with PG.

When I am in selling points it strikes me how full the displays are with Gilette products. That could be coincidence of course.

Still looking for a good replacement shampoo to my Head and Shoulders (stopped buying last year, but I couldn't find a new brand I like), but during this time I discovered cheap brands of body wash and shaving cream, now I'm paying like 50 cents per small bottle and the ingredients are pretty good, even better than some popular brands.

I had a Gillette ad in my Twitter feed and noticed it had a long comment thread, so I clicked on it to take a look. Better than 90 percent of the comments were roasting Gillette mercilessly. When you see a traditional advertisement, you don't know how others are responding to it. so it's quite funny to see Gillette's ads on social media where people can respond. I'd like to think they've learned something from the experience, but I doubt they have.

I shave with a slant edge razor with feather blades.

My shave cream is Taylor of Old Bond Street. Typically for this time of year I’m using Cedarwood scented shave cream. Right now I’m using the lavender stuff. It’s good.

For aftershave I used TOBS Eton College, Sandalwood or Mr. Taylor’s Gentleman’s Aftershave.

TOBS makes great stuff.

I can get 50 blades for like 15 dollars. That much literally last years and years. I literally don’t know when the last time I bought blades.

Cartridge razors do a shitty job, don’t last long, are expensive and hack your face up. Why use the damn things?

To each, his own, but I feel compelled to constantly remind people : while the brand is under the P&G umbrella, each brand has its own set of managers. Not all of them are woke. Brands get bought and sold all the time. Ditching the entire company is tantamount to throwing the baby out with the bath water.
