I am talking to a new dude on Hinge, and while he doesn’t have the usual soft qualities (high powered career, etc) that I usually go for, he seems like a genuinely kind person (avidly volunteers with the underprivileged). We have talked on Hinge for a grand total of 3-4 days, and when he asked to transition to text on the first day, I told him I wanted to hold off, and just to talk on Hinge for a bit. I mean, I am in no rush to meet up with anyone right now for obvious reasons, so I figured what is the rush to move to text?

I just don’t want to have another contact in my phone who is a toxic man I will never talk to again, and I don’t want that feeling of knowing these people have my number/full name/info until I feel more comfortable.

I guess I just want to be extra careful this time around?

He has brought up the text thing 2 more times now (respectfully), and honestly I still just don’t feel too comfortable. He doesn’t have a high powered career, which as shallow as it makes me sound, honestly used to be a prerequisite for men I’d talk to, and this is just different, so I want to move slower.

Am I overreacting/being too difficult? Why the persistence to get my number?
