I was recently banned from /r/AskFeminists for responding to the question, "What's wrong with teaching rape prevention to women?" Here was my comment:

If I leave my car out at night with the doors unlocked, windows open, and keys in the ignition, this is not an invitation to steal my car. I shouldn't be blamed for what someone else did to my property. But it'll still get stolen. I don't want my car to be stolen, so I take certain precautions. I lock my doors. I park it in a secure garage. I don't leave the keys in the ignition. Why should I have to go to all this trouble when we could just stop people from stealing cars? Because no matter what, some assholes will steal your shit. It's human nature. The vast majority of us aren't thieves, but not all of us are so good. Which is better, having to protect your property and not having it stolen, or having it stolen and it being able to blame someone else? Which is better, having to take precautions with your behavior and not getting raped, or getting raped and being able to blame it on someone else?

Thunderf00t seems like he'd fight anything that can be categorised into bullheaded ignorance, which both feminism and certain sects of religion fit into. My kinda guy.

The implication here is that men are being taught to rape. I 'unno about you, but I don't remember too many classes on how to rape being taught in school.

Why don't we teach bank robbers not to rob banks? Or teach check forgers not to forge checks? Clearly the problem is that these people don't know what they're doing is wrong.

The whole idea of 'teach men not to rape' is unbelievably asinine.

The problem with the "teach men not to rape" rhetoric is that it stems from far too naive place. "Everyone is special and valuable, so no one would ever do wrong on purpose, so it must be because they don't realize how bad it is to rape". It's so very feminist.

Everyone is being misled by centering the debate around what women wear as a risk factor for rape. I can tell you now that what you are wearing has negligible impact on your risk of being raped. The feminists want you to stick to the stereotype that dressing like a slut results in rape because it's easy for them to dismiss, and distracts people from what they don't want you to talk about.

Most rapes are caused by family members and then friends. Stranger rape is so uncommon that it's pretty much statistical noise, indeed you're more likely to permanently disabled or kill yourself accidentally than be raped, let alone by raped by a stranger.

Where it gets interesting is if you logically think why this might be. Well, parents are in a power position over their children and unfortunately some will abuse this.

The statistic here is quite clear, 54% of children who were abused were abused by a female:

In terms of sexual abuse even wikipedia (well known for its mangina editors) is suggesting up to 40% of child abusers are women:

So yet, in spite of all this, we have feminists telling us that 99% of rapists are men. How does that work? Perhaps we should tell women to stop molesting, or to use feminist terminology, raping their children?

The problem is - that "rape" has become a topic that has little to do with actual rape for women.

Actual rape is horrible, but in the last decade "rape" has become the shark/supernaturalkiller/etc of 70's movies - something they tell women to reinforce the idea that sex==bad.

This creates an association between rape and sex = rape==sex. They take ever potentially sexual or romantic situation, and use rape as the "bad thing" to scare women away from it - or at least scare them from doing anything that wasn't following the socially approved pattern. - Talking to men they don't know? Make the story end with rape. - Go home with a guy (where they might have sex?) - have the story always end up with rape. - Go outside with a guy? Have the story always end with rape. - Be emotionally open in make the guy feel good in the way that makes the guy want to date her? Have the story always end with rape.

Watch any tv from 1995-2005 or so - the only people having sex are killers, rapists, and people who are about to die.

When I was in college, I knew 4 women were were raped. It was a horrific experience. But there was 2 major factors that were present for girls who were raped: - They often talked about being scared of rape, being scared of walking home alone, etc. - They were pretty drunk when it happened.

These are not "fair" criteria - but that's what I observed.

It became blatantly obvious a while back that feminists agenda wasn't really about rape a while back when they had a shitstorm about how telling women that getting drunk often leads to sexual assualt. It's the #1 factor - someone who cared primarily about protecting people would not get upset about informing people about the actual #1 risk factor. Clearly the primary agenda was about something else.

Back to my original point - "teaching men not to rape" is really about teaching men to be the gatekeepers of sex, changing the dynamic between the genders so that women can do whatever they feel like, while men are the ones who are shamed about being sexual. In this article the mother does to her son what mothers usually do to their daughters - never say anything good about sex, answer their questions about sexual situations with aspersions to "something bad will happen", and when it's pointed out that that's what they're doing, throw their hands up an go "well, they'll figure it out on their own".

Women are trying to become men, but in order to do that someone has to do some sort of gatekeeping, so they're trying to turn men into doing the womens role.

It's just a tool in a gender based power struggle. It's something used to try to get men to do even more of the work, while absolving women of any of the responsibility. "rape" is just a shorthand for "be the gatekeeper for sex" (in this particular case). They're saying to teach men to be the gatekeepers and feel ashamed about sex, like women often do to each other nowadays.

I feel this video has been blown out of proportion. Originally, it was made to showcase problems (real problems) in india/asia, where there is a real problem.

The reason he is fighting against feminism is the recent incursion of feminism into atheist and skeptical spaces. I'll let that sink in. Feminists, the pinnacle of modern dogma, have infiltrated many skeptical spaces. They are absolutely astonished that anyone, like thunderf00t, is actually disagreeing with them.

I can get into why it all happened, but suffice it to say, too many people came into skepticism and atheism via dogmatic positions. "Religion is anti-female? Well, non-religion should be PRO female! Look, atheists are better because of no engrained dogma!"... The reality is that most atheists, especially male ones, came to it via reason and logic; the feminist women came to it from a place of emotion and assumed everyone would fall in line behind them.

Sad, really. A promising community, ruined by feminists. At least I can say "I was there to see the most promising push of atheism fail because of feminism".

That being said this video highlights a point so obvious it's weird that it's not more self apparent.

"Don't teach me how to dress teach men not to rape!"

It's like saying "Why should I put a Canadian flag on my luggage so it doesn't get fucked with. Teach internationals not to hate Americans!"

That's the definition of crime.
