Oh my god I know exactly what you mean. This has been bothering me for a while. Lately I’ve been frustrated with the travel influencers. They’re standing in front of beautiful scenery in something skimpy or tooting their asses out on a mountain top with breath taking views. It’s so unnecessary and it just ruins it for me. I love travel content but really sick of everything being overly sexualized.

Get off of IG.

Go to a public place, a mall or busy shopping district, buy yourself a beverage, sit on a bench and look around you. Take some time to people watch IRL. Do you see anyone at all walking around who looks like those IG women? The answer will be no. The reason for that is because even the women posting those pictures don't look like that. The photos are edited and the women are wearing drag queen make up. IG is a horrible, mindless platform and provides no real value.

Instagram is a plague. Best decision of my life was to UNFOLLOW a lot of people. My feed is only animals and food now. At times I delete instagram from my phone as well. Instagram is a fake reality that no one can achieve in real life, even the women who claim to be living it on their feeds.

Sex positivity my ass.

One of the best things I ever did for my mental health was to essentially curate my feeds. Unfollow every single person who doesn’t fit into your values. Also unfollow everyone who makes you feel bad about yourself, even when it’s not their fault.

Constantly seeing this idea of “beauty” or someone else’s idea of success will make even the most mentally strong person doubt themselves. Instagram is cancer but the good thing is there is always someone on there who is an influencer that looks like you/dresses like you/believes what you believe if you look hard enough.

Do not succumb and conform to what the masses are doing. They are asses. YOU DO YOU. There is really nothing else to it.

I used to wear lots of bikinis and skimpy outfits and sure it got a lot of attention, but did all that attention really do me any good? (Not that I was doing it completely for the attention: I really did like cute skimpy bikinis and I like my body, but it just became a matter of preference after a few years.)

When bikinis stopped being comfortable to me, I switched over to one pieces or the hi-waist bottoms and longer bra top. I AM A FREAK ABOUT LETTING THE SUN TOUCH MY SKIN (I DREAM OF SKIN LIKE DITA VON TEESE) so I’m often wearing a rash guard or have a cute umbrella to block the sun. Sundresses and sarongs are fun too.

You do not have to be scantily clad to be sexy. And you can make it super old Hollywood glam too. That’s what gave me my inspiration to switch up my summer threads. You will stand out in a different way. I’ve noticed this for myself.

I REPEAT: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO WHAT ALL THE SEXY IG GIRLS ARE DOING IN ORDER TO COMPETE.

I was discussing this today with some females, especially if they let men at work follow them on IG. You’re not going to ever be treated equally when men at work can masturbate over your bikini pics.

Women have spent decades to ensure we have equal rights and are treated more than just a piece of meat....

But now, society has conned women to believe that being half naked on IG is empowerment. It is not.
