It seems like they’re projecting. They think you’re stupid because it’s them who are stupid. And you’ve noticed that they’re not smart enough to comprehend certain things too. So why not date someone who meets your intelligence level?

I have the same exact issue. I look younger and tend to be really bubbly/kid around a lot. MANY guys take that as me being dumb and look down on me too. Honestly, I cut them out. But if I cannot, I will be my nice, bubbly self, but the MINUTE they say/do something disrespectful, I call them out aggressively and with a base in my voice. I typically like to brush things off and let things go, but I am realizing more and more that what you permit you promote, and one rude comment will always lead to more. Call it out when it first happens and hold your ground. Don't be scared to show your mean streak or school a disrespectful person's ass in the most eloquent way possible.

That's a red flag. As soon as you see it get out.

I have a friend who is similar. She is under 5 foot but a very front leading person and every guy she attracted wanted her because he had low self esteem and she made him feel like a big macho man. All of those relationships became abusive because she could never fit with their idea of what she was. They were all lefty academic men who she went with because she looked up to their intelligence and apparent kindness.

She's recently found a decent person who has never looked down on her and they are going to marry next year. He is an actual manlet but he's confident in himself, successful and likes her for her humour and personality rather than an ego boost.

Be yourself, you don’t need to hide yourself just to appease other people. If they have a problem with it, it’s not your issue. Also you don’t need to deal with guys who don’t respect you.
