So my question is... how do we stop passing it on to the next gen? I have a 2yr old daughter and a 13yr old son. How can I stop that in my family?

Teach your daughter to be a wise leader instead of a blind follower, tell her that her choices matters and her opinion matters, and her boundaries are valid and she deserve the respect. Doesn't mean that you should spoil her or helicopter-parent her - just that the way you discipline her is the way you will discipline a future leader - firm yet trustful. She has the freedom to choose but teach her that for every choice, there's a result and there's a consequence, so encourage her to choose wisely. Tell her that you have faith in her capabilities and she can achieve whatever she sets her mind on, and always be her firmest supporter. Teach her to be curious and encourage her to learn and never stop learning.

It will be a tough road, way more tough than just let her be in the pickme culture because you are going against the current - but it will be well worth the years of challenges.

From a young age we've been taught that male attention and approval is all we need in life.

realise there is no point in putting down women so some mediocre man will like me.

^^^THIS. In the teenage years especially we are bombarded with the message that if we don't get men's attention, we are "no good" and women tearing each other down to get the men's attention is normalized in tvs and movies. And being career-oriented is considered "bossy" and "no men will like you".

And we are traumatized with a ridiculous story of dying alone, rotting away in an unknown cottage somewhere surrounded by cats - conveniently forgetting the plethora of real news of women being abused and killed by their husband or boyfriend.

we are encouraged to "settle" and "give him a chance", enduring the bullshittery because "boys will be boys" while men are coddled and get away with so many outrageous things like cheating and rape. And yet women have to be perfectly content with mediocre men treating them horribly while men are encourage to go after the best pick in the crowd and he should expect a perfect wife with a perfect cleaned home and perfectly cooked home meal even though the wife also works and contribute 50% and more to the household.

All that for some mediocre ass men who can't even pee in the toilet properly. Hah.

I see women being pick mes in the hopes of getting a man with a criminal record and a porn addiction

Same sis. I really truly can't understand what's going on in their head. Women's standards are getting scarily low in the modern times - at least in our grandparents time the men must have a job and provide a house for the wife - or build one. Nowadays even jobless bum with criminal records living with his parents is serial dating. Like wtf happened??

we've been taught we need to get a man before we hit the made up "Wall" at 20 or whatever age it is these days (it gets lower each year smh)

Don't forget "men aged like fine wine" - confidently told to you by a 40 years old man with gut bigger than a 9-month pregnant woman and looks like he hasn't shower in a week. Fine wine my ass, more like fine wine that has been left out and get pissed on by random animals.
