This reminds me of my LVM ex-fwb, who invited me over with a "You can come if you want."

I decided that wasn't good enough, but then his (male) cousin messaged me enthusiastically saying he wants me to come!

I told the ex-fwb "Okay, I'll come, but only because your cousin asked me."

He FLIPPED out. He started writing in all caps, swearing at me, saying that was bullshit, and then he ignored me the whole night. looooool he was mad

THIS. I was visiting my then BF and he had stopped by his apartment after work to tell me that he was going out for drinks to celebrate his birthday (which was the reason I was there). His friend, who hadn’t met me at that point, basically pulled me out of the apartment with enthusiasm because he wanted me to go more than my BF did. I now know that if they have no enthusiasm, then I have no reason to go with them anywhere.

I use to say this to my ex because I wanted him to make a decision to want to spend time with me instead of playing videogames. I finally decided I deserved someone who will ask me to spend quality time together, instead of waiting around for affection I have to schedule.

Omg I just had an epiphany. Do guys really want you to come when they say that? LOL. I'm not in the market for a while now, but when I was younger, I always thought it was the polite way to tell me they don't actually want me there, so I always declined.

Ugh. Get yourself a man who doesn’t just want to “hang out”. Get yourself a man who plans DATES or even WHOLE ENTIRE DAYS of stuff to do!!!

My HVM makes sure we have a plan pretty much every time we hang out. He also seems to have paid pretty close attention to what I like to do AND the cadence of my errands so he even takes that into consideration. (I like to go to mass on Saturday evening, I grocery shop on Wednesdays etc). And guess what? It takes very VERY little effort on his part to know that. He just actually likes me a lot and pays attention to the little things. I want to rub all the scrotes I’ve ever known in their own poop after meeting someone who is fucking nice and normal.

Yess! When i was a pick me and just wanted to spend some time with the LVM i was seeing, he would ask me to come over all the time! When i finally had the time and actually said ok to him, he would say “if you’re ok with just chilling, you can come if you want”. Made me feel like he didn’t actually want me there and that i was inviting myself over. Goddamn past Pumpkin, you deserved better than that!

My ex would say "I was thinking of inviting you over this weekend", at first I thought it was sweet because it's the thought that counts. So blind, idk when it clicked in my head that that didn't apply to this situation. Finally confronted him about it, we didnt last too long after that, which was good.
