Background:

I am 25yo, around a 7 in attractiveness. I thought my prayers had finally been answered when I met this amazing gent last month. He's 31, divorced for 2.5 years after his wife left him out of the blue, handsome, successful, and very masculine. We instantly connected. It felt like we already knew each other from a past life, no awkward moments or anything.

Dilemma:

During a phone call couple of weeks ago, things took a turn for the worse. He asked what I was interested in, and ofc I said LTR, sex w/commitment, etc. He described his ideal set up as a monogamous FWB. If a LTR were to arise, then so be it—but he wasn't looking for that. He told me that he's been in a LTR since the divorce, but right now he's…"chilling," although he eventually wants to remarry and start a family.

I'm not going to lie, but I felt so heartbroken. What's the point of getting to know me, if you just want to bang me? How could a man be mature & ahead of his time in every other aspect of his life, but be so stereotypical when it comes to love?

As you could imagine, our interactions started to change. He said it wasn't a big deal that I wasn't putting out without a commitment, but his actions say otherwise. Daily phone calls have disappeared. He's made no solid plans to see me again. Our last date was almost 3 wks ago, and we live in the same city. It's like he morphed into a typical time waster—the kind of guy that wants to text all day about nothing of substance and ask for me to send pics cringe. I've honestly forgot how his voice sounds, I just can't believe this is the same man.

Questions/Concerns:

Realistically speaking, he's as good as it gets for me. I've dated men more attractive, charming, wealthy, etc…but I haven't connected with a man like this in years. The divorce has clearly left a bad impression of women on him, and I don't blame him. I don't want to throw in the towel, just because things aren't going my way. But at the same time, I can't waste time with fruitless endeavors.

Should I stick it out, and hope for the best? Or should I cut off all communication and be lonely again?
