My boyfriend (10 year together) offer me a ring for a PACS ( we're an hetero-french couple in France, PACS is some sort of contract of association between two people who agree to engage to each other in a relationship, often use as a pre-wedding or alternative to weeding, and subject to law different than the wedding). He want me to wear the ring (a solitaire), but refuse to wear a ring himself, even a simple one, because he say he is a dud, and dud don't wear Jewelry, even a simple blank ring.

I feel it will look like I will wear a symbol of engagement, but he , he wont have to, because he is the men.( this type of ring are only weared in our country to show engagement).

When I told him I will wear the ring if he wear one, He told me he won't wear a ring because it's not a wedding but a PACS.

I told him how I feel about it, and that I will not wear the ring if he don't wear one too, but then he say that a wast of money because the ring is very expensive. ( it cost 20% of his month salary, the normal cost of an engagement ring here - again, we are french, we don't have the same culture about engagement ring- )

He never give me any reason to doubt about his fidelity, but if I'm the only one who HAVE TO wear a ring, I feel like it's some sort of sexist symbol, that this engagement to each-other is in only one way.

What do you think of it?
