Correction: she doesn't want to get married to YOU. However, I'm not seeing how this is a negative development from your POV. I guess you didn't need to pony up for a ring after all but, other than that, you don't have much skin in the game at this point so, count your lucky stars you found out her true thoughts on linking her life to your's before you became legally entangled. Sounds like you two are cohabitating which may have started the process of your betaization in her mind so, that was a bad move, for sure.

My advice; completely cease any movement towards marriage (setting a date, etc) and just continue on the personal improvement path (mind, body, spirit). You are very young still; 28 years old? Come on... First off, I would never ever recommend any guy under the age of 30 to a.) be in a relationship, b.) live with a woman, and c.) get married. You are way too young for any of those three that I mentioned. You still have a lot of work to do on both your personal and professional side of your life.

My thoughts on your situation? I would take this as a win. Yup, that's right. I would take this as a 'W' in the column. This is better to happen the way it is now instead of a different scenario three, five, or even ten years later. It's a lot harder to get out of your situation when you are married, have kids, a mortgage, and a ton of other issues that have built up over the years.

I would slowly prepare an exit strategy starting today. Take a look at your financial situation and see what you can do when it comes to moving out and finding a new space to live in. Hell, if you have to move back in with family, so be it. Start getting things in order on your side. Women love to share all of their deepest and darkest secrets with each other, whether it's a sister, mother (gulp), friends - you name it. STFU and get your shit in order.

If you are already working on yourself as you say you are, this should be all the matter of fact this point forward. Not to mention, I agree with /u/mbmbmb0101 when it comes to you banging her in and around her best years. From this point forward, you need to get new experiences and figure out how you can improve and what you want out of the people in your life. You still need to figure that out. Maybe, just MAYBE a handful of years from now with more experiences on your end, you can go down this rabbit hole again. Until then, you have shit to get done, which starts with moving out and getting on with your life.

Call the engagement off. Take control, tell her it's not working and you need to put the brakes on this before you guys move forward. Then you do your MAP, see if things turn around, and proceed in whatever direction that winds up being.

Be the fucking man, have some self worth and value. Right now you're so hung up on this girl that you're okay with her marrying you even when she's not that into you.
