They fought to the death for our rights, died in childbirth, survived domestic violence, outlawed divorce rape, got us our own bank accounts just to VOLUNTARILY tie yourself to a lvm? Our ancestors made these sacrifices so that future generations could be different. Break generational curses/trauma!

This is something I've been thinking about a lot lately. I feel like I owe it to all the women who came before me to be different. I wonder how many of them would think we are crazy for even such things as choosing to get married when we don't have to. They had a very different view of it than we do today. But how much have things really changed? Yes they have improved but marriage is basically still being low or no paid a bangmaid. Why choose that life voluntarily? Or even worse living with a man without the financial benefits that come with being married.

YES! I am doing just that! All of the women in my family have been hurt by men and most are divorced. Ive been leveling up and only allowing the absolute best to break these ancestor wounds/patterns. Good reminder!

My gramma (mothers mother) was a sweet ol farm girl. She had nine kids before she was 34. I’m 35 and childless and think about that all the time. She wept when she found out she was pregnant with the last one. She was never pregnant again after that, for some mysterious reason. Part of me hopes she had it all taken out by choice instead of her uterus rupturing from too many pregnancies.

she was also brilliant. She barely had any schooling, and no way to really utilize her brilliance, except when it came to playing scrabble. She was an absolute scrabble dominator and was kind of a legend about it. It’s neat when people’s brilliance leaks out in casual ways, like being able to come up with complex words and rejumble them to create better words while strategizing and visualizing it all. I really wonder what her iq was. I love it, sweet tiny ol farm gramma putting on her glasses and her aura changing into this complete unit, mind going a million miles an hour, you couldn’t tell her nothing as she crushed everyone with like laser precision lol. Love it.

Gramma didn’t have choices, she was married off at 17 and had no say really. Mom was “bad” when she was a teenager, and she recalled a story to me about how gramma took her around door to door so she could ask to be a maid. There was three options then, nurse, maid, or teacher. Those were three options my gramma didn’t get. The reality check scared her straight and she chose nursing. Those three options, only one generation ago, WAS SEEN AS BETTER THAN WHAT THE GENERATION BEFORE GOT.

think about this, we are only a few decades from their paths.

My mother... who flat out told me having a husband and kids was the worst thing to happen to her and she wanted to be working as a biologist somewhere. She was always furious she had her personhood taken from her. She was a crazy mess who should not have been a mother in any circumstance.

Theres a long line of women behind us, who sacrificed more than we can imagine with strength and power and grace. They have lifted us up to where we are now, in a much loftier and more powerful place than where they were. I think of them a lot, and cringe when I hear women bashing feminists, like lol ok hunny I’m sure you would love having your voice and rights taken away so you can be a baby machine beaten to a legal pulp by your captor/husband. Women who shit on feminism dont have an educated perspective in my opinion.

we need to continue fighting that fight and lifting up our fellow future women, because we owe it to ourselves, our ancestors, and our future ladies. We have gained so much progress, and yet there’s still so much progress left. There’s resistance, and deep seated misogyny that still permeates almost everything and will crush it all away if given the chance.

I'm pretty sure both of my grandmothers' success boiled down to marrying HVM. They were born a bit too soon to have a career of their own and if they had married the first LVM who wanted them, their lives would have sucked. Somehow both grandmothers held on and married rich men who treated them like queens. They lived easy lives having many children, luxuries, traveling, maids, beautiful houses, clothes, and they were loved by everyone. My grandfathers both died right after they retired, but my grandmothers are sitting pretty 30 years later with full bank accounts. It makes a big difference versus having to live out your old days in poverty.
