Hi, I'm 23 and currently finishing my dental degree. My schedule can be really hectic what with patients rushing in before another lockdown starts (my country's on the verge), and keeping up with my studies- I haven't had much time to myself. But lately, I've started visiting this sub every night by clockwork. After a thorough read of all the posts of the day, I go to sleep feeling positive and mentally cleaner. This has become a routine over weeks, and I have realised the daily exposure is unconsciously stripping basic pickme tendencies I'd found hard to let go even after multiple rereads of the handbook.

I deleted my OLD accounts starting of the year but I still had a few stragglers in my insta dms. Plus, I recently met an attractive guy who's from my hometown and shares similar interests at a friend's place. Except, his last relationship was an intense 4 year thing and he hasn't gone out with anyone since they broke up last year. Usually my reaction would be like, so what? I haven't really gone out with other people either. Maybe he's just waiting for the right one. But no, this time I stopped myself from creating background stories for other people. My friend finds him attractive too btw, so that's another issue. And all of this thinking's taken place without a clue if he's even interested in me. That's when I knew it.

I cannot let myself destroy months of reprogramming just so I could go on a crazy bookish fantasy romance in my head. I have deleted all the leftovers from my dms, friendzoned the boy, and started living a more sensible life. It's been 2 weeks. Today also happens to be the anniversary of the day I drunkenly confessed my love for my ex after 2 months of dating so yeah, seems like a good checkpoint.

Thank you queens, I love this me. And thank you especially to the posts talking about how dating in uni is a bad idea. I completely agree.
