It is crazy that we are in a world where women not only do not recognise violence and abuse being done to them for what it is, but are often actively defending their ‘right' to be abused

It seems equivalent to what is called 'choice feminism', basically the argument that "It’s not degrading because I choose to be degraded"

BDSM and kink etc seems like 'choice abuse’, essentially "It’s not abusive because I choose to be abused”

Surely the whole point of a civilised society is that you cannot choose or consent to things that the society deems abhorrent, even if you think you want to. I do not think you can consent to abuse, and even if people do claim that they do, it does not make it ok or legal. Just like murder is still murder even if the victim gave ‘consent’ or said that they wanted to be killed.  The society does not give them a free pass, they are still a murderer and should face the penalties for this.

This is because we (supposedly) live in a civilised society that does not tolerate murder or abuse under any circumstances, and so ‘choice’ is deemed irrelevant.

Does the idea of ‘choice abuse’ resonate with anyone?
