My buddy went through that. Married this woman who was legally nuts. When they got married she tossed all her crazy pills so he wouldn't find out how nuts she really was.

Needless to say within six or so months all of a sudden she tells him that she doesn't love him anymore. She also informs him that she's leaving to move in with another guy.

During the divorce she isn't just trying for half his stuff even though they've only been married like six months, this nutcase is also suing his parents for half of what she thinks her husband is entitled to when they die.

Needless to say the court threw both of the suits out and she got almost nothing financially except her lawyers bill was paid by the six month husband.

I have several problems with this

1- She's assuming he couldn't have gotten his PhD without her cleaning and cooking at home. Last time I checked, there's plenty of single people who get their PhD without a house keeper at all. Even if the house is not particularly neat, that does not mean you would be incapable of getting a PhD.

2- She is implying that her house work is equivalent to the difficulty of earning a PhD.

3- A prenup does not drop his responsibilities of some of the family's basic needs. He will still contribute at least 50% for the shelter and food.

4- He started the business (probably thanks to his PhD) so he is the boss. Someone who takes the risk of starting a new business is not equivalent to working for someone who made said business possible with his investments. I think this should be obvious.

5- And this is the thing I really can't wrap my head around: What does she have to lose from a prenup? What's the worst that could happen? Divorce and only retain her own assets? How is that unfair?

If the prenup is really all being hinged on the premise that she deserves a % share of his business, then how about arrange/negotiate that before the marriage, then proceed with the prenup? Why does he have to put his entire net worth at the mercy of marriage laws? Perhaps she knows something which we don't? If she could convince me with a good argument to these questions, I will make an oath to become feminist for life.

That prenup is pointless because the longer the relationship is and the closer the prenup is to the wedding, the least likely it’s gonna be considered in court. Can guarantee that in the event of divorce she will claim to be entitled to half (or even all) of the business since they were 'partners'. Then, upon being informed that the business is actually $200k in debt for which she is responsible for half, she will magically turn to emphasizing that she had no knowledge of any of what was going on with the business - a 'fair weather partner' as it were.

I say this from my own first hand experience as this is exactly the behavior demonstrated by my ex during the divorce process.
