Everyone wants to rail against gender roles, talk about how unfair and oppressive they are.

People don’t have an issue with the “gender” part of the equation, that is just a red herring to hide the truth, which is that people have a problem with the “role” part of the equation because “role” implies responsibility.

Both sexes want the OTHER sex to have classically masculine or feminine qualities (provider or nurturer) without themselves having to be either!

People want to have their cake and eat it too. But they can’t walk around saying that so instead they hide behind the “oppression” and outdated gender expectations because that sounds reasonable on the surface.
