Am I the only one who is bored and tired of the job they are doing

It's extremely normal to be bored or unhappy with your job. Especially these days.

This was also the case in the days of our fathers and grandfathers but the difference was that they did it for their families. The grime was worth it. Atleast for msot men this was the case, there are always exceptions.

Men often take pride in building their tribe and that starts with the family unit which starts with a good woman.

These days you can find the yeti faster than you can find a good woman.

I would suggest you go to a trade school, learn one skill that you can master and one that you can hone on the side (this has to be something that brings you joy). Once you start working the trade within the skill you mastered, start a savings account and one account for investing (mutual funds, SIPs etc.)

The one that you make, the money that you save and the interests on the investments will enable you to pursue the skill that you honed on the side or you can just retire early and rest.

Now all of this is only possible when you keep yourself at the centre. Be selfish. Look out for yourself only and keep the trouble women, the land-whales, the hoes, etc etc away.

The men of the past found their joy in family, the men of the present must find it in themselves.

Yeah not everyone wants to work a mindless job giving up the best years of their life for shit wages. A lot of people live miserable existences. I just read a comment today about some guy that’s an engineer and has been doing it for 15 years has kids and responsibilities and hates his career but feels stuck now. I mean that’s enough to make a person blow their brains out. Like what’s the point of being miserable all the time? I would suggest skilled trades work. I used to have an office job and switched to doing HVAC/R and work as a commercial Refrigeration technician doing large supermarket and industrial work. The pay is great and there’s plenty of work. Sure I have some boring days but it’s a way better change and I get to work on different equipment all the time and if I decide to relocate I can move anywhere in the world and find a job in my field. I would stay away from truck driving. Sitting in a truck would just be as boring as sitting on a forklift and have you seen a lot of the truck drivers most I see are overweight, and in poor health from sitting in a truck smoke cigarettes, drinking way to much coffee and eating processed foods full of preservatives. You could also start your own Business and be your own boss find something you enjoy doing and find a way to make a career out of it the money will come if you’re good at what you do Just my take. Yes! I hate it! All my life I studied to become an architect and it's NOTHING like they used to tell us. No creativity (maybe 5% of the time), just emails, phone calls, budgets, meetings... I become more of a menager than the architect. I hate it. I hate people. I hate cell phone. I hate my illiterate colleagues!

I miss the days when I worked as a plumber during the summer breaks and holidays back in my studying days in high school and at the uni.

I have been programming for over 20 years, loved it when I started but corporate jobs have a way of draining the life out of you, I don't mind doing the coding, it is the workplace and the politics and bullshit that starts to get to you, honestly COVID has been great because I get to work at home and avoid 90% of that shit, fortunately they have defined us as flex workers which means we will be able to work at home most of the time now, only going into the office a couple times a week once they open it up (probably in a couple months)
I think it is pretty common to get bored of your job, everyone probably experiences that at one point or another.

It's normal. I forget the exact statistics, but somewhere in the range of 60-70% of adult working population hate or are dissatisfied with their jobs/careers etc. Most of these jobs are menial, repetitive, non-creative, once you master your duties, become not challenging and sometimes even pointless (paper pushing, bureaucratic, etc.) providing little to no value to society or the company. A lot of us do this rat race to pay the dreaded mortgage, or for those of us who were dumb, to pay for the wife and kids.

I work for a governmental agency, and without going into detail, in a smart society could be completely automated, eliminated, simplified and would benefit more people for the resources we consume as an agency. Alas we do not live in that kind of society, so we waist billions a year on paper pushers like me. I think actual economic term for this is bullshit jobs.

So if you are not working for yourself, the odds are that you do not love your job. But there is a silver lining. If you're smart and are still pulling in whatever is considered a middle wage/salary, you don't need to spend the rest of your life in the slave factory. Be frugal, invest smart and you can show the middle finger to your boss in 15-20 years. Only other choice is to work for yourself or win a lottery (don't advise to place your bets on the last option).

Consider having high IQ - those kind of people get bored with the job pretty fast.
Consider changing job where there is more creativity (more happening at the same time, a lot of dependencies etc.) - manager, marketer, salesman
Consider psychotherapy (I recommend Schema Therapy) - people who get bored easily may also have problems with just "being" and must be constantly under a preasure of some kind of stimulus... and it may have second bottom ;)
Invest in nice hobby that could eventually become your job in next 10 years (e.g. youtube content creator)

You need to find something outside of work that makes life worthwhile.

If you're looking for a new role, find something that pays well after a couple of years and continues to go up with experience and that has slightly different task variations each time you do it.

If your not afraid of heights and slightly mechanicaly smart. Go be a linemen. They make bank. And you can littlerly go anywhere in the world that has electricity. Chase storms and forest fires. I know guys who are making 200k a year. Yeah they work alot but everything they want is paid for. Cash. Bank it up tak 6 months off to travel and enjoy life. If I wasn't trapped after diverce with kids I would be doing this.

Your current job is just a JOB . In 15 years time you would still be stacking skids and new hires will start $1 less than you IF the robots haven't taken over. At any given time you are 2 smashed skids away from jobless.

Get a trade or find work in inside sales/service counter. Industrial supply chain, commercial hvac electrical plumbing etc. Hydraulic shop truck repair depot.

I'm in the trades and a I make good money. It's hard work and I do get bored up until payday. I like working with my hands so it makes it easier to deal with the boredom/depression that comes with working. I also find that having goals for your money gives you something to strive for. Trucking is also a good option. Some of the truckers I've met say they've hit $200k a year consistently but they spend a lot of time away from their home. I think it's a good trade off bc when you're at work you're away from your place anyway. Whatever you decide to do at least do something that will keep you employed no matter where you go. It's why I became an electrical worker.

Same here I'm stuck in a claims rep position at my job. Something I was forced to study when I was college (Haitian parents you know..)

Now I'm trying to survive the burnout and learn c# and c++ on the side. Software development is what I want to do and I like to practice piano/keyboard and music production with my maschine.

Software development internship is either up unpaid or you gotta have experience to get experience which is so retarded.

Start your own business, become self employed.

Just like leaving the safety and security of one’s parents in late childhood/early adulthood to live on your own and support yourself, I feel like the next progression of mature adult life is true self reliance and financial independence and that comes from relying on yourself 100% for your financial security and future.

Firstly it’s liberating to have the freedom to be your own boss and answer to no person “higher” on the corporate chain. Setting your own work hours and giving yourself the ability to set how much you want to earn, by how hard you work. You will find your equilibrium - some people go flat out and work every day for long hours because they love what they do or love the money and lifestyle it brings, others find their balance is less than full time working hours each week to have enough time to indulge in personal hobbies or for family obligations, etc. and make just enough to pay bills, get by and enjoy other aspects of life.

When you work for yourself, your mentality will change. If you don’t feel like working - you can validate that by not working. Of course it comes with consequences - most of the time you still have to put the needs of your potential customers or source of business income first - depending on industry and what you do specifically, but you do have the freedom of not being constrained by being just an employee - just being a cog in the system.

Yes but what keeps me going is being able to do what I wanna do outside my work like building cool things. Just built my own computer and it was worth it and in the process of building my drift car which are things I enjoy to do so I feel if you have something to save up /work toward that will enhance your life outside of the job

I had a childhood friend who became a crane operator. One of those cranes that collapses down to the size of an 18 wheeler. He drives it to the worksite and cranes all day. Good money and probably won't be replaced by automation during his career.

Here in the states it's a 1 or 2 year degree, depends on if you want to be qualified for phone and fiber optic as well. Then you usually get hired into a local utility company or you can go to the union hall. You will start out as an apprentice 25 to 30$ USD an hour . After I belive 5000 hours (3 years ish) you become a journeymen. Over time counts. OT is typically double time. They make any where from 50 up to 100 straight pay. Plus OT I work on the natural gas pipeline side of the business. We do pretty good as well, but they are making bank. Don't tie your self down with a women or any accidental kids. Make money hustle get your self set up and comfortable. Travel dont settle until your ready.

I find engineering stimulating and interesting. Dont get me wrong, nothings perfect; but on the whole its pretty good

I think if you compare the amount of work & dedication it takes vs. the amount we get paid, its not worth it; the finance bros & management are ripping us off. What you get out of STEM though is good quality of life & satisfaction, for whatever thats worth

Also, I understand a lot of blue collar guys get stoned on the job. Idk if this is an option for you as an equipment operator.

I feel the same way. You are going to have to dig deeper to find that motivation. I listen to motivational videos on youtube. Another way I get motivation is to set a savings goal, in that every hour I work is to achieve a savings goal. For example, you could start with saving $2000, then set a bigger goal for saving and so on and so on. Rather than focusing on your job you focus on what that pay will do for you. I hated my job as a dispatcher for JB hunt last year but I used this to save $18,000 which I am using to pay for tuition here in school and I am not broke like the rest of the students.

I think most people are like that nowadays. Something has gone fundamentaly wrong in our culture and society. People are much more miserable. I think humans are happiest when they are part of a tribe and believe into something. And by tribe I don't kean some hobby group or meet up, but a community. We don't have that nowadays.

So we try to replace it with careers and consumerism, but that doesn't really work.

The trades right now are an excellent blue collar way to make money.. you pick it and there is always work.

My friend is a master plumber with 30 years experience and he says "nobody wants to work with their hands or get them dirty".... he also is one of the most financially successful people i know. Bought both kids houses and paid for 4 to 6 years of college for both.... literally he makes incredible money.

You pick the trade, there is some program or training program to get started and you will be hired before you leave (even if its an apprenticeship leading to a job)

The computer/IT/Cyber realms are highly sought after but honestly unless you are actually talented you become a "worker bee" never making the big bucks.... not everyone can work in this field and be good at it...you need talent

The truth is our grandparents and great-grandparents (some of the "greatest generation") had purpose to do well and support their families (no matter what)...also, one workers wage could take care of a family of 4.... i look at some of my grandparents and they look wealthy by today's standards (vacation homes, trips big bank accounts) after seeing people on food lines with 40-50k SUVs and 1k phones in everyone's hands while starving makes me wonder where people's heads are at (during the height of the pandemic)

I would think i could actually see sassquach or yeti before i found a quality partner for.life (like my grandparents did).... its unreal what society has done to both men and women .... (that comment was funny by another member)

Beta/soy/cucks and ruthlessness on the side of the females in society..... i hold little hope outside my world (its the only part i can control really)...

yes nobody wants to work these bullshit jobs, got damn I have so much respect for the older generation even though they had easier time getting good jobs that pay well, its still a remarkable acheivement to get up and go to work 5 days out of the week and put in your 40 hours. Im 32 and I already figured out im not built work 5 days out of the week for 40 hours. I plan on doing crypto, investing , and being debt free soon I have 11,000 worth of debt left should be gone by January 2022. I would work a job 3 days out of the week and do 12 hour shifts for 36 hours. But work takes too much time out of your life espeially if you travel to work.

I lucked out right now and have the easiest job i ever had in my life I work from home basically a call center. I always imagined how one of these jobs would be like and its heaven compared to working at target, or a laboratory analyzing asbestos.

advice to you get debt free, when you dont have debt you have more control of your life, find a job you can stand for the least amount of working hours you have to put in. Unless you enjoy it what is the point of spending your whole life working to retire at 65 with a broken down body and not even survive the next 15 years to 80.

Thank you for the comment sir. I have decided never to marry, no cohabitation and no damn kids. I would love to work Monday, Tuesday, ----------Thursday and Friday. Weekend and Wednesday off . I am saving money to buy a used boat to go for fishing, camping and all those good stuff. I have considered truck driving because I'm a serious introvert. Given the negative effects, I believe it's better to go for trades. Thank you

I now have a job I love. Here’s how I figured it out: I sat down and made a list of everything a job needed to keep me from hating myself. My new job is a male dental hygienist and it’s the easiest high paying job I’ve ever had.

For me this great energy lasts until I hit a 5 or 6.month period at each job I have had so far and then all the boredom and resentment begin. I was sold for the idea of get degrees and you will be successful. Now I'm looking into trade, work for a few years, buy a 1 or 2 acre property and build a cabin or remodel a bus, RV etc...and live peacefully without ever getting married. You gotta think about what you really want out of life (at least at this time), and ”why” you want those things. Then take steps towards them every day.

I was the same way as you (got a long list of 6 month jobs--since 1998) and for me it was running my own company. I'm not built to be a 9-5er, working for the man. I'd rather starve to death. My soul ached after just a few months working anywhere.

It has not been an easy path, but now I work roughly 8-10 hours a week and the rest of my time goes towards the things I want to be doing.

There's a quote I live my life by that goes something like this: *if you're faced with options and you don't like any of them, then your job is to create new options.
