Married ten years, no kids. Wife and I own two homes, three vehicles and tons of “stuff.” My salary is $135k and hers is $78k. I’m 95% sure we’re going to divorce and I’m concerned about a few things: given that I earn a good but more then her-but she does earn a good salary, what are the chances I get stuck paying alimony? Also, my thought is, we sell both houses and split the equity. Is that realistic? What about retirement accounts? I have more than double the amount she has saved. Is it likely she will get some of mine or will we each just keep what we have?

I completely understand I need to get an attorney and I’m shopping for one now as this just came up two nights ago. I really don’t wanna lose cash but am worried because I know that courts tend to favor the women and considering how much more I earn, I’m really worried I’ll get stuck paying her.

Also, any chance I would get stuck paying for one or both of the houses and she gets them? They aren’t paid off. All the vehicles are paid off. We have no debt other than the homes.
