It's funny that those advantages, for which this exceptionally peaceful country hasn't seen need for in over two centuries, justify the implications of this policy in your eyes.

This isn't about familiarising people with gun safety, it's about the state, any government, having the ability to sign your death sentence and treat you like property, like a slave, at their arbitrariness. That is about one of the most inhumane systems I could come up with were I assigned to create one. It is this system which has used men as cannon fodder in wars. That would all be fine if all of those men had the choice and weren't shamed or coerced into active service by all of society. Male disposability yadda yadda yadda, you get the drill.

Advertise it, encourage it, add benefits to it (might persuade me), but do not force it.

"Delicate, fertile and non combative“

If you're a first time mother who's never given birth, maybe. But but unless you're that one in a million lucky woman who has a unicorn birth and sneezed the bay out while laughing, there is nothing about birth and after birth that will leave you soft and delicate. I've had 4 gallbladder attack, two kidney stones and walked 200k in three weeks during my life, it paled into comparison with the pain of childbirth and the physical and mental hardening you have to got through to get through it.

You know what I don't want to see? My 18 year old sons go to war, or my husband, or my father, or my brother. Much like childrearing, once it becomes a shared burden suddenly people get it and stop imposing terrible standards on the opposite sex simply because they don't understand it. People in general learn and understand only what they have personally experienced, very few people have true empathy. I think women need to experience this to get it.

Maybe if society had a generation of motherless kids they'd stop expecting them to go fatherless like it's OK. Children deprived of loving, healthy male father figures are damaged in so many terrible ways. I count myself as one of those children.

If they have to make women go to war to finally stop using peasant folk as cannon fodder for the rich, I'm all for it.

How is war improving the world? How is reducing the rights of half the population an improvement? Equal rights, equal responsibility, and no more damn wars.

They might be able to make good sperm, but the involment of men in everyday family life is absolutely crucial for the development or healthy well adjusted children. You could be the most spectacular mother on earth, you could still NEVER replace the very unique contributions a man can bring to raising children with you. Boys and girls need healthy father figures, not just walking sperm doners.

I guess what we're really arguing about here are the valid reasons to go to war. You're saying that men are physically adjusted to war (most of them get mentally torn to bits by it, but hey, at least their muscles were useful). And I'd agree, that ground combat is overwhelmingly better suited to male bodies.

But what I'm saying is that was war (unless you are literally defending your own borders) is a socially accepted cancer that needs to affect everyone before it can be eradicated as much as possible.
