It's such a double standard to me and it's everywhere from kids to adults.

My niece is a huge Spiderman nerd. Everyone in the family knows it, nobody ever tells her "that's something for boys you shouldn't like that". If anyone ever did they'd be considered sexist. On the other hand, at the last family gathering my sister and brother in law said their son had been watching My Little Pony, and were concerned that he was into something so girly. While other family members thought it was funny. Why?

I experienced something similar at my university today too. I used a bit of lotion on my hands before class started. The girl sitting next to me giggled and said "isn't that a girl thing?". It's just lotion, men have skin, skin can get dry, what does gender have to do here? I didn't say anything back but I know that girl was on a footbal team, if I ever did the same and said that was a "boy thing" I'd get so much hate and be labeled sexist.

It's 2021, traditional gender norms don't exist for women anymore so why are they still a thing for men?
