AND of course it is a term used to shut down a conversation. IT'S also supposed to mean that the person saying the stuff assumes the person listening knows nothing about the stuff but is actually a expert.

This is what pisses me of the most about the term "mansplaining":

Scenario: Someone poses a question as to why something is done a certain way. A woman explains that it's done in order to keep it running smoothly. Everyone calls her smart, strong, intelligent for knowing how it works.

Scenario 2: Someone poses a question as to why something is done a certain way. A Man explains that it's done this way in order to prevent "this" from happening. If "this" happens, it causes "that" to become disjointed/disorganized, which tends to cause a little bit of a clusterfuck for everyone...Same explanation, just with more detail and context as to why. And women berate him for "mansplaining".

Personal Scenario: so the other day I noticed a post from a woman going "Using my vibe the other day, and the battery died before I could finish, so I had to use my fingers. After 45 minutes I just gave up"

To which I said "Hey, sounds like you used the vibe so much that you've become desensitized to your own touch...try using your fingers a little more and the vibe a little less. This way you'll get better battery life, AND get off if it happens again!"

Some pissy Karen goes "LMFAO did you just dare to mansplain female pleasure?", and all I said was "no, I EXplained why her fingers couldn't cut it...no different than a man with gorilla grip syndrome, then not being able to get off when he's with his partner". - She didn't respond to that.

Mansplaining is a term coined by hyper-feminists to be used as a linguistic weapon to shut down the conversation as well as any rebuttal you may have. The worst thing you can do is to go on the defensive and attempt to explain why you're not "mansplaining". To do so would be to assume that you're dealing with someone who is like you, meaning they're reasonable and open to having their mind changed. They are not. They are betting on you going on the defensive. Don't play that game.

A person who would even think to accuse someone of such a juvenile term is, at best, a malicious person who is possessed with the idea of silencing you and everything it is you have to say. They do so by invoking an unspoken imbalance in the sexual dynamics where it is assumed that you, a male, are exercising linguistic dominance over them.

The best way to counteract these sorts of people is to reject the framing and the language they use. For example, the next time someone legitimately accuses you of "mansplaining" is to call them a bad person for all the reasons I listed.

My issue with the concept of "mansplaining" is that its an act of reception instead of intention. Meaning that it occurs not because the person doing it is trying to insult or condescend to you but because you feel he is trying to do those things. People are notoriously bad at judging the motivations of others and just lack self awareness in general. You can take completely innocent or non-gendered approaches and make them problematic. For instance, in retail sales there are sales strategies that say that you should try to make things accessible and easy to understand for all customers and adjust how technical you are based on thier level of knowledge. Doing so for your female customers is now "mansplaining" even though it's just good customer service. He'll, I wish people would mansplain things more often to me.

This is only used because feminists and insecure women don’t like it when a man is smarter than them.

Women do this to men all the time to. Acting like a man is a fucking doorknob like a dad in a sitcom and needs to be mothered to. Only insecure women use mansplain because even if there is a “know it all attitude” about the way the men is conducting himself, that has nothing to do with his gender.

No.. this is almost always not what is happening... it's simply framed like this because lots of feminists don't like to be made to feel stupid... and that's on them.

Most of the time, when a man is explaining something to someone who doesn't know (otherwise, there would be no need for an explanation), they will give as much detail as they can in order to avoid missing any parts of the information that may be needed, and as they don't know how much or how little the person knows about the topic, they tend to give even the most basic facts.

I've been in this situation, and I appreciate the effort it takes to share that much information regarding a topic, but then, I'm not ashamed that I don't know what I don't know, so I just accept the knowledge this person is willing to share, and his effort to try to give me as much as he can, so I'm not left with gaps in my understanding.

However, if a feminist knows even a tiny bit of it, she will become offended that the man is being "condescending" because she's a woman, not realizing that her gender is not the issue, her lack of understanding is... .and he would be doing the exact same thing to a man.

"Mansplaining" is a term used by feminist narcissists to shame and silence men who speak. The primary premise of "mansplaining" is that speech by men must be approved by feminism before it is either valid or non-misogynist, and that when men say something that women know, they are being misogynists.

The sheer stupidity of this belief is self evident.

Firstly, it is not encumbent on men to only speak when what they say is not known to another. This is limiting men to only speak when they say something that is new or original or unknown. The civil response to speech that repeats what is known is simply "yes, I agree". The misandrist says "stop mansplaining".

Secondly, this assumes that men know what is in the mind of the woman so as to not repeat what she may already know, the gynocentric feminist myth that each woman is the centre of the universe, and every man who interacts with her must be focused on her needs and thoughts.

Feminists seem to believe that they have the authorty to decide whether speech by males is acceptable or not acceptable. This is just typical feminist arrogance.

AFAB here. I’ve noticed what is thought of as “mansplaining” is common among people with autism when they’re actually info dumping. How many shitty ass people have thought guys are mansplaining because they have a legit condition which makes it harder for them to communicate? There’s a difference between making sure the other person knows the information required to move on in the convo, and being condescending and disrespectful.

Because the only time it gets used is when the person using it either

A. Hasn't done enough research about the topic at hand, and cannot rebut or counter the argument, therefore getting destroyed with more complex details about said topic.

B. Is a mental Feminazi that thinks that only certain topics can be discussed by only one gender, because they have all of the answers and do so much for society and said gender.

C. They actually have no clue about the topic, want to sound a lot smarter than they actually are, and are ticking off every NPC talking point fed to them by Twitter.

It's worse than that.

"Mansplaining" is blaming the other person for your own stubbornness, poor listening skills, and defensiveness.

It isn't a strictly a gender issue, when I was young I used to hate getting lectures from my bosses and customers too. In hindsight, they were right essentially 100 per cent of the time.

If someone is taking the time out of their day to explain something to you be happy for the learning opportunity. I don't care who they are.

My biggest issue with it (aside from using man as a slur) is that it assumes "itsbecauseimawomen" as opposed to the more likely option "they are just a condesdcing prick in general" which I have encountered numerous times.

This is also why I am hesitant to say women receive more hate in online gaming because.

On average women/girls dont game as much as men/boys so any negative experince they receive cannot get overshadowed by other positive experiences
They assume the asshole is a sexist asshole when in reality they could easily be just an asshole and just used your sex as a way to fuck with you.

its used for when a man is explaining something to a women when hes either wrong, or she already knows and has told him that. for instance some men think every woman's periods only last 5 days a month, if he starts acting like thats fact for all women and starts telling women there wrong for saying otherwise thats man splaying, its something wrong hes pretending is true with no facts. it isnt a dumb concept as it its like saying ok boomer to soemone. its just telling them you already know or there wrong about it
