I know Valentine's Day has kind of a bad rap around here, but I've seen several women who participate with their SO's. For those of you who celebrate, is there any sort of tradition you have with your Captain? What are you getting or doing for him this year? Has either of you ever surprised the other with something really memorable or special? Do you keep it pretty low key and only halfway acknowledge it, or do you really make a thing of it?

Hubs and I have made handmade gifts for each other every year we've been together. Neither of us enjoy receiving expensive gifts and prefer something more heartfelt, so we usually spend a lot of time preparing. Breakfast in bed is supposed to be a cute surprise, but we both like to do that for the other so every year we have to bargain on who gets to make breakfast.

This year I'm sort of stuck as far as what to make him. I do a lot of crocheting and knitting, but it seems lame to make him a hat or scarf or something. Maybe as a Christmas stocking stuffer, but there's nothing particularly romantic about it. I learned about a fantasy of his he had never told me before, so I plan to act on that, but obviously that's only a little extra something fun (how sad is it that so many women put out for their husbands so infrequently that when they do they call it a "gift?" "Oh, it's your birthday, that means you get your yearly blow job!"). Anyway, maybe someone can give me some inspiration! ;)
