Hey all,

So I had a private correspondence with a female user here about men's sex drive, and I've also noticed this attitude with some newcomers to this subreddit (though many females here absolutely do get this right!).

Some of the newer visitors here simply don't understand how important sex is for men. They use their own perception of sex and apply it to the opposite gender. That is a pretty serious misconception that WILL cause problems in relationships.

I thought I should post my response here to start a discussion:

"I don't know what you expected from this conversation to be disappointed. I'm only trying to make my point clear, not trying to get empathy.

It's easy to close your eyes and keep thinking the world runs only from your perspective, but let me ask you some questions that would hopefully shake them up a bit.

1) Why is there so much porn on the internet? (I'm not sure you are even aware of the amount of porn on the internet. here's a source: http://gadgets.ndtv.com/internet/news/30-percent-of-global-web-traffic-is-porn-study-223878 )

Follow up: I'm assuming you don't even watch porn - you can imagine how inaccurate your perception of the world, when you are not using something that consists of 30% of the internet! I'm not saying you should watch porn, I'm saying that it will be hard for you to imagine how all those people think, because you don't have the same needs as they do.

2) Why are there so many cases of rape?

If men weren't so horny, they wouldn't need to risk a long jail time just for a few minutes of pleasure, right?

Again: I'm not justifying rape or cheating or what not, I'm trying to show you that there are a lot of people out there with a different perception and desires from you.

3) Why do men cheat? Like you said, supposedly there's no reason to not get out of the relationship. But these things DO happen, which means there's something behind it. You need to ignore your personal emotions about cheating and think logically about the situation (this is RP btw) - you are trying to find an aswer, not stick to your beliefs that do not actually explain the scenario.

4) At the end of the day, we are a part of the animal kingdom. What is the average behavior of a male in other animal species regarding reproduction?"

So, I think a big chunk of you do "get" it, but for those that don't, this is some food for thought.
