Diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. Only served 3 years for attempted murder, assault, and illegal possession of a firearm.

OJ Simpson is known as the man who killed his wife. but the focus on the killing is to ignore is true contributions to footbal

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah meanwhile men get 10 yrs for having some weed in pockets to smoke.

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Is that an unusual sentence in that jurisdiction? Served 3 years often means sentence was 6 years.

[–]Lion_amongst_gods 37 points38 points39 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Adolf Hitler is best known as the man who killed jews. But to focus on the genocide is to ignore his contributions to the Nazi movement, including his seminal text "Mein Kampf".

How does this sound?

[–]-Hetshepsu 29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The scum manifesto is so blatantly genocidal it makes Mein Kampf look like jewsih kid church book

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

So far as I know pretty much the only people who consistently read SCUM as gendercidal are MRAs. That isn't how it was read at the time by feminists I met. I never met anyone who saw the book as a literal threat to men. It isn't how it is read now by normal people.

I googled to see if it had ever been banned. Plenty of countries can ban books for inciting murder. Nope, nothing.

Tbh Mein kampf is so poorly written and a headache to read. It’d be better to mention his paintings which got auctioned off for loads of cash and are kept in museums.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In my highschool AP euro history, after we finished our AP testing, my teacher did a segment on European art. He showed us Hitler’s paintings without telling us who painted them. We all agreed they where nice. Then he told us.

[–]dingoperson2 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not to forget Hitler's "daring arguments" regarding the Jews.

Very brave, took a lot of guts to make, etc.

NYTimes Books and NYTtimes have removed their twitter posts however the article is still up on their website:

https://www.google.com.sg/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2020/06/26/obituaries/valerie-solanas-overlooked.amp.html

Appalling that a mainstream newspaper supports philosophies pandering violent genocidal extermination of men.

[–]RyansPutter 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's only mainstream to leftists and ivory tower types. No one else cares about the NYT. It's a dying newspaper

[–]dcs577 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol they’re doing better than ever

[–]Redisigh 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m left leaning and a lot of us aren’t like that.

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The Orange Emperor has been ranting about the "Lying NY Times" and the "Failing Washington Post" for four years. Their readership has kept increasing all through those 4 years. I checked NYT recently, subscribers are still growing strongly.

There isn't really a good free alternative to the NY Times.

USA Today is a OK paper but they don't do the full coverage of politics that the NYT and WaPo have. https://www.usatoday.com/

https://www.foxnews.com/ is what it is. I'm not a fan of any TV-linked news organisation, they all pander too much to their chosen political side. Fox journalists are OK but the headline writers misrepresent the articles sometimes and Fox opinion hosts are steaming assholes.

The US edition of The Guardian and Al Jazeera are fine for the main stories but they are international papers, US coverage is oriented toward global readers. https://www.theguardian.com/us
https://www.aljazeera.com/topics/regions/us-canada.html

[–]antilopes -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Did you read the article? I didn't see any support for violent genocidal extermination of men.

The opening paragraph of SCUM Manifesto makes it clear it is hyperbolic and at least semi satirical. (Her play Up Your Ass is full of satire too):

"Life in this society being, at best, an utter bore and no aspect of society being at all relevant to women, there remains to civic-minded, responsible, thrill-seeking females only to overthrow the government, eliminate the money system, institute complete automation and destroy the male sex".

This link may work better for some people, I think AMP links can give trouble:
http://archive.is/https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/26/obituaries/valerie-solanas-overlooked.html

[–]OutheMatrix 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Did you read this article? Explain this: “In it, the author, Breanne Fahs, writes about an exchange between Solanas and her friend Jeremiah Newton. Newton asked Solanas if her manifesto was to be taken literally. “I don’t want to kill all men,” she replied. But, using an expletive, she added: “I think males should be neutered or castrated so they can’t mess up any more women’s lives.” “

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

True. Ok, so how much of a problem has this been in the real world? How many guys have been castrated? Decades ago the Bobbitt case was instant huge news around the world, but that was an attack on her husband, not on men in general. So it doesn't count as a SCUM inspired event.

But continuing the irrelevance, how many similar husband castrations since then? It is far less of a risk for men than being shot by a man named David. Being shot by a man named David Smith is probably far more likely than being castrated by your wife, yet there is no campaign to protect us against men named David Smith, NOR Peter Brown, or any random combination of names. Why not? And remember this is all irrelevant, I'm only discussing it because there are EXACTLY ZERO cases in the real world to discuss.

Solanas described SCUM as a frame of mind, not an organisation that had ever or should ever exist.

[–]RyansPutter 15 points16 points17 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The SCUM Manifesto sounds like a good name for the New York Times.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean yeah she’s a murderer, but she’s a feminist, so we should think of her as a good person! Boom, headline fixed

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

You can always know a person by the heroes they choose.

[+]21STCTT1 points 5 years ago [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link

I’m Caucasian male and my heroes are Mike Tyson/Winston Churchill/Alexander the great/ emperor Chi/ Boudicca/ David Attenborough among others: what does that say about me then?

[–]JKeitoMiyazawa 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

you are SCUM as defined in the manifesto and you should be shot!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Hmmm 🤔 no /s bahahaha!

I must be doing something right if that’s the reaction.

[–]Redisigh 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Churchill’s cool but I feel like nobody talks about Gallipoli. That was a dumpster fire on his part. Practically reverse D day and had insane casualties.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I’m not the type to gloss over some of the things he done/ordered, I know about Gallipoli, blowing up the french navy and the Indian massacre among other things, he had some tough choices to make as all heads of state/presidents have to do in times of conflict but he has an interesting life story and a fine soldier himself. He was eloquent with a sharp wit and mind. And he had our countries best interests at heart. Probably turning in his grave with how things are working out today.

[–]Redisigh 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed lol. He was definitely a good guy and I’m glad you know more than just “D day and WW2”

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Gallipoli was a catastrophe. It is remembered in the national holiday in Australia and NZ, ANZAC Day.

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Who sees her as a hero? She was influential in the rise of lesbian separatist radical feminism.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Who sees her as a hero?

Many, many academic feminists do.

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Then you shouldn't have any trouble linking some of them. Note that acknowledging her influence in kickstarting lesbian separatist radical feminism does not mean regarding her as a hero or approving of any kind of violence.

Speaking of violence, exactly how many men have been killed by misandrist terrorists?

I don't want to bring up uncomfortable feelings for any of our more delicate members so let's not talk about the number of women killed randomly by misogynist terrorists for nothing more than being a woman when and where he decided to do his massacre.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Then you shouldn't have any trouble linking some of them.

Do your own research: I don't work for you. Here's a crumb, though: start with Avital Ronell.

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ugh, life is too short to read post-modernists. How many randomly chosen male strangers did she kill?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ugh, life is too short to read post-modernists.

I agree with that.

How many randomly chosen male strangers did she kill?

Are all your questions complex?

(For the untrained: Complex Question fallacy)

Or if you prefer me to follow the bait, then: How many random men has any woman ever risked her life to aid or protect?

Hey, this was fun! Thanks.

[–]Occupational_peril 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

From her wikipedia page on the SCUM manifesto - overthrow the government, eliminate the money system, institute complete automation and eliminate the male sex.

Her childhood sounds seriously traumatic too. The writings of such an individual should not be celebrated, but used as a window into the mind of a troubled person so that hopefully no one else would be forced to endure the same.

[–]JustJamie- 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is the exact opposite of what they say about slave owners. Slavery was legal at that time murder never was.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The the NYT, it’s basically a propaganda mill for the far left.

[–]Strayphoenix6 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Gotta love that. "Woman that proposes genocide isn't taken seriously as a person because she wants to kill people. But aside from that, we think this gal is great."

[–]PointLegitimate 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No way, a bitter man-hating woman with a manifesto tried to literally destroy a successful white man? Never heard of that happening...

[–]Wolf0133 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If theres a hell lets hope she is rotting in it haha

[–]Mens_rights_matter2 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism in a nutshell.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It doesn't matter how evil a woman feminists will always find a way to justify admiration.

Pollution is superior. Better for the environment and mostly easier on the eye.

[–]dingoperson2 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also: To focus on Osama bin Laden's daring bombings, is to ignore his legacy in marketing and communications.

[–]cistacea 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She and Jake Eakin belong together.

[–]accountancyisboring 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Osama bin Laden is best known as being the man who orchestrated the 9/11 terror attacks. But to focus on the terrorism is to ignore his contributions to the islamic rights movement, including his belief that America discriminates against islam. /s
