This is because of the work-life balance gap and women having more freedom than men to personalize their workplace arrangement. The wage gap only applies to full time male workers currently in a relationship with a woman.

Single men earn less, part time working men earn less, and so on.

In terms of household incomes, households with women are paid more than households with men, and households with both outearn single-sex households. The feminist trick is in trying to convince you this is a womens issue because they count male wages as something that belongs to them, rather than to a household, which isn't really how income, poverty and so on work. It's the usual cooking the books we see from them where they actively seek out disingenous frames to discuss data to continue to push a false narrative.

Because of the work-life balance gap, women are far more free to have free time and work less, so they choose to do so in greater numbers.

As a result they pay less taxes.

Makes sense. I have a strong suspicion that this is because less women work than men. If you correct this data for the total earnings of men and women, you should get the same (tax paid/pound earned) value for both men and women - unless women get special tax exemptions.

I'm not sure how this might affect the actual tax payments themselves, but in the UK we get Child Tax Credits, which are mostly paid in the mother's name. Since this data only provides the total amounts paid without taking this into account, I would imagine that this is where a large chunk of the discrepency comes into play.

It might be that mothers are being compensated for child care costs.

Or maybe this proves that the income gap is misleading because mothers tend to take lower paying jobs and and work less hours in order to be with their kids.

I think the more telling figure would be taxes on womens salaries as a percentage of overall income. The latter figure should be lower than the one indicated by the wage (earnings) gap. Then I would leave out capital gains and related taxes that might skew the picture.

At any rate, although the result might be less dramatic, it is inevitably true that men overall pay more tax and use less public services.
