I’ll never forget the first night I was in France with a then-girlfriend, and she abused me - shouting at me for an hour - because I didn’t want to pay for a taxi from the airport. She told me that if I wouldnt pay for that then I wouldn’t be the sort of guy to pay for her dinner. Needless to say I walked out on her two weeks later in London. She was an abusive bitch.

I've never really had this problem. I've only gone on a few dates with women who expected me to pay entirely. Most women I've dated have either offered to pay for their drinks, offered to pay for the date entirely, or offer to buy rounds. Once when I was looking at the check, my date ripped it out of my hands and threw her credit card down.

I hate dinner dates early on in dating - it's easy for women to take advantage of them. So I prefer going out in the evening for drinks and alternating rounds. Sometimes I'll buy an appetizer for us and I'll pay for it because I always eat more.

And notice how when you bring this up the responses are either they try to shame you or they say absolutely nothing. It's different if the man is offering of their own free will but on a personal level if a woman ever did that shit to me it's basically telling me not only is she expecting me to give her a free ride but she also isn't an adult and either can't look after herself or worse won't.

Simple answer to this problem though guys really, be cheap as fuck on your first few dates to weed out the gold diggers, the ones who are interested in you for you will stay, it's not complicated. Just don't respond to women who resort to shaming tactics.

They don't even expect this as a trade or a deal. They expect free stuff from the get-go for no reason other than entitlement and ego.

After my divorce I met a woman who was always talking about how women are equal to or better than men. Having beeb out of the dating scene for almost a decade, I went dutch on our first date. It was for lunch. Total tab about $30. You would not believe the bitching afterwards. Needless to say, I moved on after two months.

Men are still expected to buy the rings even if the woman makes more.

What I'm about to say is purely my opinion based on the observations of the dating life of those I personally know and that of my own. I come from an apolitcal developed country that has little public dissension about gender inequality, however there is plenty of griping within private social circles.

Why must men pay? The most common answer from women (and some men) in my country is that a woman's value peaks between 18-25 when she is still relatively 'young and beautiful', but then starts to drop rapidly after 30 because her looks start to fade and men of her age group start to get married. The result is that women who age start to have less and less options. Men, on the other hand, do not face such a rapid drop in eligibility. A man who is 35 would find it very possible to date a woman who is 25, and if he is of above-average wealth, he could pull it off even at 40. Conversely, it is difficult for women if we turn it the other way around. None of the women I spoke to had any statistics to back such a phenomenon up, and neither do I, but apart from a few exceptions of older women dating younger men, what I just outlined appears to be the mainstream view from women in my country.

Therefore, they conclude that the time a woman in her 20s spends on dating is more 'precious and valuable' than that of a man's of similar age. As a result, it is customary for the man to pay for all, if not, most of the expenses while they are in a relationship. This is so that in the event they do not get married (ie. break up), the loss faced by the woman in terms of her depreciated eligibility would be offset by the financial savings she made from having to pay less. However, most women say that once they become married, their approach changes and they help their husband with the expenses as equally as possible.

Another reason why they feel a man should pay is due to demand and supply. Crudely put, if a women is attractive, scores of men are pursuing her. Why should she have to settle for someone who only wants to go dutch when she can have someone who will pay for everything? Therefore, such women assert that if a man insists on going dutch, he is not being fair to her. Men, in response, in order to get this 'attractive girl', will agree and then pay for everything. These men say that while the principle of it all is absolutely bullshit, well, they want that pretty thang, don't they? So they cough up the cash.

What do you guys think? Do you believe that women with this type of rationale make sense?
