young women make more than young men tho.
If you filter out all the old people the pay gap is unequal for men.
The pay gap was unequal for women before but now it's inverted.
[–]illCodeYouABrain 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I don't think it's inverted. I believe even in the 70s/80s young women were making more than young men. The gap starts after marriage. Women on average work less after they get married, while men work more. It was true back then, and it's true now I think.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
i think it is... women have overtaken higher education with almost 2/3 graduates being women. Millennial women are buying houses at more than twice the rate of millennial men. Women have overtaken men as the majority of the workforce.
Millennial men and younger are getting fucked over the most of any demographic. Millennial women are being taken care of by old boomer simps who want to give them jobs, give them gifts and simp it up for them.
No one wants to help millennial men though they want to hold them back if anything.

Agreed. Women lump all men into one category. So in reality they’re angry at the men in the 1%. But they’ll never be important enough to be in the presence of one of these men so instead they take out their anger (with the richest men in the world) on regular every day average joe blow simply because he’s within reach/earshot. And so regular men are regularly crucified for the disparity between these women’s pay and that of the richest men in the world, even though that has nothing to do with the average joe.

Brands that push the wage gap myth, or other forms of misandry, don't deserve to get your money. Treat Reece's the same as you treat Gillette.
[–]ripyourlungsdave 21 points22 points23 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This isn’t the real company. It’s spelled “Reese’s”. But I do agree with the sentiment.
[–]tomsterextreme 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I most certainly do. I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl of Gillette for breakfast.

You sound like a male feminist. I think you've wandered into the wrong sub, there are too many conversations here that will trigger you.

How does my joke about shaving with chocolate make me a male feminist?

Already do

Because everyone that works in any given field should be paid the same regardless of skill.
[–]Blutarg 10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Then go to court. If sex is the ONLY reason someone is paid less, that is totally illegal. Go before a judge and present your evidence instead of blathering on Twitter. That is, unless you have no evidence, in which case I will deposit your opinion in the circular plastic file.

The easiest way to deal with people is bring up the fact that 80% of teachers are women. When they say "Maybe men just don't want to be teachers" you laugh and hope the irony of their words hits them.

If all of your expensive education has led you to the job title of Social Media Intern, then real jobs probably all look like dress-up to you, or like stock photos with diverse sets of models, all interchangeable, for whom becoming a doctor is as easy as putting on a stethoscope.
[–]Icyx2 points 6 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Apart from the joke being merely a joke... there's a bit of truth in the statement, too.
If you look at which-types of specialization men & women choose-- within the categories of "Doctor" "Engineer" or "CEO"... you'll find more men choosing higher-paying subsets/ vs. women choosing lower-paying options.
==
"Gender disparities by specialty are greater in the U.S. medical system, where men comprise over 90 percent of the doctors in some specialties."
https://thedo.osteopathic.org/2018/10/men-outnumber-women-3-to-1-in-some-specialties-in-the-u-k/
"Young women do not choose to be engineers nearly as often as young men, and they tend to cluster in particular specialties when they do."
https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/09540253.2016.1262007?journalCode=cgee20
"An interesting fact cited by 14% of the CEOs is that a large number of women make softer educational and career choices in the beginning and this impacts their growth to the top where functional requirements are different. "
https://www.ircsearchpartners.com/thought-leadership/where-are-women-ceos-myths-and-reality/
"Women in the government and nonprofit sector made up the largest number of incoming CEOs. Last year, 100 — roughly 52 percent — of open chief executive slots were filled by women."
"[The] Consumer Discretionary [sector]... has strong female representation in leadership positions."
[–]username2136 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Damn if that was the actual company, they would have taken their slogan “not sorry” to a whole other level.
[–]Svenskbtch 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. But:
CEOs: more in service industry, smaller companies;
Doctors: more into GP, dermatology and psychiatry than neurosurgery;
Engineers: more into biological engineering and laboratory work than leading petroleum exploration missions on open sea.
So what is the issue? The answer is obvious. Get women to go into petroleum engineering and neurosurgery. No reasonable person is opposed to that, right?

“Female CEO”
Don’t CEOs get paid depending heavily on performance and performance of the company? So they’re admitting that female ceo are worse at their jobs?
