I feel horrible for the kid, hopefully he will be able to live with someone from his family, and get enough support, counselling and care to overcome the insanity of that experience.

Holy shit, the kid survived being stabbed that many times? The first time I heard about this story I thought he died. If he survived that, he's gone through more trauma in his short six years on this Earth than most have any right to claim they've surpassed.

Is the kid ok? Like he won't die will he?

[–]Kierran169 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No, he will make it

[–]TheJazzProphet 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Depends on your definition of "make it". Imagine being six years old and going through that. I guess the upside is that what his mother did is so horrendous that it should be easier for him to morally condemn her, rather than making excuses and forgiving her.

Well what I meant was live I mean he obviously won't be the same anymore but he will still live

[–]Kierran169 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, he might be fucked in the head but he will survive

Both officers have been placed on paid leave while local police chiefs investigate the fatal shooting, which has been ruled as a homicide.

So they're both suspended pending further investigation as their intervention is now considered homicide?

It's bewildering to me that she even had custody of the kids because:

Further investigations after the incident have uncovered the woman had a history of domestic violence and is alleged to have "mentally and physically abused" two of her older children.

as well as:

She had been arrested four times in the last four years on suspicion of domestic battery, and has one conviction of the same charge from 2017.

So it's hard to understand why the courts were dragging their heels on this:

According to reports, the child's father had been locked in a fierce custody battle with Rodriugez around the same time and was fighting for sole custody of the boy on the grounds that his mother was abusive.

Happens all the time, and yet the court still finds it "in the best interest of the child" to leave it with the abusive mother...

Why are these cops on leave??

[–]DemocratTears2020 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Mental trauma. SOP

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just hope they don’t try criminalizing the cops who obviously did the right thing. It’s so scary to be a cop-not because of the danger of getting hurt so much; it’s more now a fear of becoming a criminal just for stopping the bad guys.

[–]alclarkey 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And let me guess, the boy will be put into foster care rather than his father's custody.

[–]RockmanXX 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists&Civil courts pretend like instances like this doesn't exist and that women should get default custody because whamen are better parents than men.

[–]ThePigmanAgain -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Meh, this looks more like lunacy than evil. I really don't see it as an MRM issue.

[–]SoundOfDrums 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The custody part of the equation and the "kids belong with mothers" narrative are applicable here.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fair enough.

I'm just curious, the dad was fighting for full custody on the grounds the mother was abusive, but up until she tried to murder the kid, what proof did the father have about her being abusive? If there was none it can't really count as discrimination, no? Feel free to correct me btw I'm not exactly familiar with this kind of thing

[–]MrHolte 20 points21 points22 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She had been arrested four times in the last four years on suspicion of domestic battery, and has one conviction of the same charge from 2017.

Did you read the article? Is this not proof enough?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I did, missed that part though. Thanks.

[–]Oncefa2 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think the same thing often happens in reverse, except when a woman says it about a man, it gets taken seriously.

The fact that women are taken seriously, and men aren't, is an example of discrimination against men...

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah right. I also found out in another comment she was convicted 4 times for DV so yeah she shouldn't have been given custody

Edit: Sorry not convicted, arrested on suspicion of DV

Feminists lack reading comperhasion.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Since when did asking questions make someone a feminist, jeez.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

He didnt read shit then accused the dad.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

They didn't read it, maybe they didn't have time, doesn't make them a feminist. They didn't accuse the dad, just asked if there was evidence, that's just analysing the situation, it's logical. So not feminist necessarily unless you think they have good critical thinking skills?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well if he didnt read it why say there was no evidence?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He didn't, he asked that proof the father had. I read that in good faith, if you don't that's your deal but he adds that he wants to be corrected if he's wrong. If he's a feminist I want to be one too

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why would he ask the proof when there is littearly it in the article???

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Do you mean me or...

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not a feminist. Nor do I think the woman should have got half custody. I didn't see the part where she had been convicted before.
