Personally I find it distasteful, but I trust random people on the street over the government so I feel it should be legal.

I also think men need a fiscal abortion option.

Abortion should be legal until there’s brain activity. We unplug braindead patients without calling it murder, because there’s no person left there- a fetus, pre-brain activity, is only something with potential to become a person, as is every single period a woman has. However, as long as women have the right to abort or give kids up for adoption, men should be allowed to wave all parenthood as well.

Personally I'm pro life and while I would prefer it to be banned that will most likely not happen so I'm okay with the laws in place by some states. I do believe IF someone is getting a abortion guys deserve to have a say because it's not just a womans issue because it takes two. I believe it's also legal for a girl to just get an abortion without consulting the father and that can cause problems, like if she gets one for revenge or something.

I believe that abortion should be legal IF the baby and/or mother will be severely be affected during birth like if the mother would give birth she may die, or if the baby was created by rape then she has the right. If both people chose to have sex, the child shouldn’t die because of their poor choice.

I believe the unborn are living, district, individual, humans and are therefore entitled to the human right to live. As such abortion should be outlawed nationally except for extreme cases of the mothers death. At the very least kick it back to the states and let them decide for themselves. There is so much more we know about embryonic development today than in 1973, it’s hard to imagine the same ruling coming down from the court.

There are only 4 main differences between the fetuses we once were and people we are today.

Size: Odiously we are much smaller in the womb, but this has no bearing on our value as a human. Shaq is not more of a person than a random 10 year old girl.

Level of development: Again, what does what you can do have to do with what you are. Five year olds can not reproduce, are they less of a person because of this?

Degree of dependency: Newborns need adult interaction just like the unborn, yet it is abuse to just ignore a newborns needs because they die. So why is it an excuse, “my baby needs my body to life so I can choose to let it die”?

Environment: Why does where you are change what you are? You are a human in your moms womb, you house, Africa, or your Grandpas Dodge Dart.

I'm prolife. Abortion in my eyes aren't right except in rape cases or mother will die and you won't know that til you're further along. I fully believe that if you consent to sex, you consent to getting pregnant as condoms and bc are only 87-89% effective. And I don't agree with the "well he should have worn a condom". Yes he should have so why'd you have sex with him? And why didn't you wear one too? Or have other bc methods along with the pill? Why should a man solely prevent pregnancy when you aren't trying to fully prevent it too? That's my view on it. I just can't understand it and don't think I ever will..

If we choose any sort of quality-of-life rationale (e.g., "brain activity") as our standard, it's fairly straightforward to point out that animals that equal or surpass toddlers by these metrics are routinely killed for reasons far less fraught than those raised by abortion.

Ergo, by any quality-of-life standard, it's acceptable to kill a fetus at any point, up to and including the moment of birth.

Here in Britain, abortion has become acceptable to the point where it's no longer debated. Pro-life is viewed as a bunch of religious weirdos in America trying to harass women outside abortion clinics, and if a pro-lifer ever made it onto TV or radio, they could expect the presenter to see it as their duty to personally destroy them.

I'm still on the side of the right to choose, but it's been interesting hearing the other side of the argument via the internet.

Why not? We're not talking about killing a baby - we're talking about extracting a fetus that didn't even finish forming properly.

There are a LOT of issues adjacent to that (like how woman may decide to abort even if father wants to keep it and there's nothing he can do, but if wants are reversed - man is stuck with child support and being listed as father), but how is the abortion itself controversial at all?

That being said, the Constitution does not grant the federal government power in this area, so it's properly a state's right's issue. Either that or someone needs to tell the NSA about this right to privacy in the Penumbra of the Constitution.

I think it should be available up until a certain point, but i have not enough medical knoledge to know when the baby is actually conscious. In fact, i would be okay to nearly every reasonable limit on the baby devellopement, but think that the debate is to poisonned to have a non ideological position.

I dont think that rape should be a factor in the decision as it would increase false accusations.

The problem with banning abortion is not just forcing women to give birth. The problem is, pregnancy can be literally life threatning (i.e. ectopic or molar pregnancy). If she cannot abort, she will die. Painfully, at that.

Not to mention many types of life saving treatments (i.e. some types of chemo or radiotherapy) for the mother. Would you save the fetus for a month or two of gestation more, before the mother dies of cancer? What if she has already one or more kids to take care of?

So yeah, early term abortion might be evil in some aspects (sometimes, taking a life), but for now, there's no other way to save the mother in many situations.

In so far as theoretical points go:

After brain activity starts you are committing murder. (For those who want to know, brain activity generally starts at around day 40 give or take. The end of week 5 and the beginning of week 6. Many states have laws on the books that allow abortion up to week 20. And some politicians on the left are trying to push it out even further. Most premature infants are not considered to be viable outside of the womb until week 24 to 25 at which point the survivability odds go up greatly. However premature infants as young as 21 weeks have survived.)
We shouldn't be killing people without good reason; like the pregnancy will kill the mother or the baby is going to be born with all of its organs outside of its body, etc.
We need to go back to teaching our children to not fuck everything that moves. That in and of itself will cut down on a lot of this bullshit.

Women want freedom without responsibility. Women want to be able to spread their legs for lots of random cocks to dump spooge in them without having to deal with any of the messy details like a kid. And they are getting what they want because we keep giving it to them.

I'm pretty Spartan, myself. I feel either the mother or father can kill the infant up to a year old. It would make men pretty certain they want to be a father, and women would be much choosier in who they get pregnant with.
