The couple are both in their sixties and separated about 20 years ago.

That's what makes it so absurd, she has had 20 years to find work and save like any adult would. Instead, he is losing most the pension he will need to rely on when he is too old to work. This could well lead to him becoming homeless or starving. How can feminists claim to support equality if they support treating women as a dependent class? Why would an equally capable person need a ruling like this? 75% isn't justifiable in any way shape or form here.

So he busts his ass for years while his ex wife sat on her pretty ass while he worked, and she is entitled to 75% of his retirement for nothing. Sounds great. Kudos on him for dragging it out and making it worth nothing to her because of the legal fees.

This is the sword of Damocles currently hanging over my head, I'm awaiting the papers and if she keeps her word (for the first time ever) I get to keep my pension and savings, she just wants £££££ for her half of the property or she'll be homeless in 6 months as she works 4 hrs at min wage, my strength is her desperation for money quick

Our kids are adults but "she can't work anymore hours" and has never held a full time job.

If she goes full tilt and asks for half of everything I would honestly rather blow every penny on lawyers than give her another dime. I'd burn it in the street before handing it over if I could, part of me wants to go to court and fight just so I can look her in the eye as I tell the judge how she claimed welfare for our daughter whilst she lived with me 7/7 for 7 months and refused to give her a penny as it was "her money" when she moved out and refused to sort a room out for our kid to stay with her

I do long for wrapping up my defence with the cherry for the top of this shitcake being how she stole the money for our sons headstone

Of course judges don't care if they are a legitimate piece of human garbage or not, she will still get half

Buying her out is doable and I should be back in the black in 2-3 years If I can use my savings instead of having to share them (90% inheritance and what I've bagged since she left), she has a spending addiction so In that same timeframe just as I clear the debt, she be unable to pay her rent and be homeless as she will have blown her half (I don't hope this will happen to her but I'll piss myself laughing when it does)

I pity the fool who will become her next victim if she manages to find a guy desperate enough

Since she left she just lived off CS and welfare mainly but our kid just turned 18 and the money train stops in July

If I do end up in court I will fight tooth and nail as I supported someone who dropped out of school at 12, only ever worked as a cleaner (the one thing she rarely did at home especially in her SAHM days), I paid for every brick in the house, every inch of the wedding, every single purchase was covered by me, she couldn't even be on the mortgage as she was credit blacklisted and I had to do it in my name only

I worked my ass off to get a job with an OK pension, I hermitted myself to get what savings I had, she spent her life living off either myself and/or the state

Since she left my spare cash has increased by 4x what it used to be, I'm banking 60% of my wage

It fucking stinks that someone can accrue half and put no effort in and be rewarded for sitting on their ass all day, when it would be obvious that without the partner supporting them, they would be on the street due to their choice to do fuckall

I don't see it as a problem with directly with women, it protects leeches of all sexes, the law is what is what is fucked up and hopefully as more women earn more it will actually be changed, I see enough posts on reddit by women with leech like bf's and husbands but of course they don't get told "he gave up his career for you, he sacrificed bla bla fucking bla"

Doesn't do me any good but the buyoff is worth it just to legally get this parasite out of my life

During my divorce from my 4 year marriage I took my retirement contributions and divided them in half. That sounded fair to my ex's attorney.

A few years later my ex contacted me saying that we didn't use the right formula and that she deserved more.

I told her we signed a contract.

She went on to meet a rich guy and didn't care about my small money.

I'm now retired and live on my pension. I spend all of it. It would be devastating to have less.

But seriously, this sounds like rewarding stupidity. For 16 years you have no assets or income....16 fucking years! If you didn't make a small pension or some other nest egg for yourself while you were married, and have made no effort to get off your ass and change things since, why would you deserve the lion's share?

I'm going to guess it won't end, because for the guy, its still total bullshit. I'd run it out until i was dead. Just give her a hundred grand and let that be the end of it, more than fair and if you can't live off that for at least ten years, fuck you.
