Ah yes, the it's ok because guys can take it mentality. This woman is a serial abuser making excuses for her actions.

[–]Ogg66 21 points22 points23 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You know that was my first thought reading that spiel, god forbid she ever has children especially a boy the chances of them being abused but just inside the law would be very high. The tone of this to me looks like 'do not ever disagree with me or you will suffer'. But Anglo American society has deemed that its OK to be violent towards children* and funny or no big deal when men are hit by women.

  • A lot of European nations have quite rightly classed hitting kids as assault, it is the great unspoken area of DV mostly mothers on boys.

[–]warlockface 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Don't forget the startling fact that in the USA, around 50% more boys die (are killed) from neglect than girls.

[–]Ogg66 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And in the UK too, but lets not talk of mothers being 75% of child murderers lets talk of how bad dads are. It is disgusting this is kept quiet.

[–]Pz5 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She is a sick piece of garbage that makes excuses for violent women. She is victim blaming.

[–]Tarsen12 points 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I once had a GF that was 17 at the time and was living with her single mother. This all happened before I met her. Her mom was always a hot head and very controlling of the girl. They got into an argument one day and the mom just socked her in the face. The girl reflexively slapped her mom back then removed herself from the the vicinity of her mom. Her mom ended up calling to police and had the girl arrested for assault and spun this whole lie to the officers, which believed the mom. Girl did time and was on strict probation for over a year where she was not allowed to ever touch or disrespect her mom or she would be in violation of her parole.

It blows my mind how easy it is for the law to be abused by an abuser.

[–]PIG_CUNT 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

She might not be an abuser. She may have never had a relationship with a man.

Does she strike you as girlfriend material? The kind of girl who thinks there are lots of good men left?

[–]Ogg66 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then she is a likely abuser and certainly has the mental capacity to justify abusing people.

[–]deeptimeswimmer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

please. Go ahead. Defend this woman. Tell us how its not so bad. fucking apologist.

[–]PIG_CUNT -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Haha, where did I apologize for her? Copy and paste. Don’t avoid the question; I know you will.

And where did I defend her? Paste that too.

This should be good.

[–]The__Tren__Train -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lol OP's post is just rage-click bait

[–]CautiousPoisson 41 points42 points43 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

If she genuinely believes her own argument, then a woman that pushes a man "to his last straw" also deserves to get hit, which doesn't match up with her last statement of "Never hit a woman". I think it is a deliberately provocative post rather than a carefully considered position. It fails as an argument on its own inconsistencies.

[–]PowerToAnnihilate 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What if both hit their last straw at the same time lol

[+]Bonobophone1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

That's honestly probably what usually happens... the majority of domestic violence is reciprocal.

[–]TheMythof_Feminism 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the majority of domestic violence is reciprocal.

I don't follow numbers or studies of domestic violence closely, but I vaguely recall the models actually revealing that the bulk of violence comes from women directed towards men, both in terms of instigation and retaliatory.

However, it seems to be true that it is nearly exclusively men that commit the most gruesome acts during a domestic spat. While women might have a couple of exceptions here and there, the upper cap is firmly populated by men in terms of qualitative value.

Basically, women do it a LOT more, but when men snap, they snap hard. Again, I vaguely remember this being the rough models but don't quote me on any of this, I am going off of raw memory and am very tired.

[–]CautiousPoisson 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Excellent point.

[–]lethrowaway4me 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Something like this.

[–]PIG_CUNT 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No. You are looking at this as if a logical man wrote it.

The problem with that, is that Selena wrote it.

[–]headingtoshore 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

not really because OP is the 'women are children' argument. women, and children, can not be expected to control themselves, their behaviors must be managed by rational persons and their 'meltdowns' and 'outbursts' must be seen as being caused by the environment and not by themselves - by extension, their lashing out must be seen as a failure of their caretakers to properly shield them from the things that cause their behaviors -- it's men's fault.

according to this branch of feminism, men are the only adults. women and children must be protected from the bad men and must be cared for and nurtured by the good ones.

[–]TheMythof_Feminism 49 points50 points51 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I know that's probably not a joke, but it's clearly hyper stupidity.

I would never hit a woman, not because I'm a white knight, but because the law , even in my nation, is so heavily stacked in favor of women that striking a woman is basically saying goodbye to life as you knew it.

If the law wasn't such bullshit, you bet your ass I would strike her in return. Do not throw a punch if you are not ready to get hit.....

This is also one of the reasons I NEVER assist women that could potentially be in trouble. I just keep walking.... why risk taking the blame? no good deed goes unpunished.

[–]PIG_CUNT 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

That last sentence is a huge excuse, justification, and rationalization.

Some good deeds go unpunished. You should have ended with the previous sentence: “why risk taking the blame?“

To which the answer for most people is, “because I care about other people and I’m willing to take risks to ensure the health and safety of others around me. I would want someone to help me or someone I care about, so I will do the same for others.”

That’s what being in a civil society is all about.

And that’s why pretty much everybody who comes from a decent country, is aghast when they see dashcam videos from Russia where something happens like a motorcyclist getting hit by a car running a red light, and the motorcyclist using his hands to crawl to the curb because his legs are shattered, while nobody stops to help him; people just walk by because they don’t want to risk anything.

We are horrified because that’s not how decent people behave in pretty much every part of the world. Maybe you haven’t traveled through many different countries but that’s one thing absolutely common to people and even animals.

If you don’t want to take any risks helping a stranger in need, that’s your right. But it’s a pretty miserable existence.

There’s a big difference between a risk helping someone in need, and the risk of having premarital sex with a drunken tinder date in college.

[–]TheMythof_Feminism 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

That last sentence is a huge excuse, justification, and rationalization.

It's none of those things. It's simply an explanation.

To which the answer is, “because I care about other people and I’m willing to take risks to ensure the health and safety of others around me.”

And the counter-argument to that is, there is no reason for me to risk my safety and possibly my life for someone who could just as easily throw me under the bus for my efforts.

That’s what being in a civil society is all about.

No it isn't.

Modern nations all have citizen interactions based on a mutual undersstanding of the law and the concept of 'work'. That is all.

people just walk by because they don’t want to risk anything.

Keep in mind, I would possibly aid a man that is in trouble. I simply wouldn't aid a woman due to the high risk involved.

[–]25511367325325869452 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

i mean huge difference between a couple fighting and a guy with his leg chopped off trying to survive

The couple would probably hate you for involving yourself (1 person at least) while the guy with no leg would be happy you've helped, plus if some1 did that to him he's probably running from the police now, not waiting to shoot whoever helps him.

If it's risky, call the police. That's literally what they're paid for by our taxes.

[–]TheMythof_Feminism 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I may call the police if I sense violence and I am feeling generous, but I would rather stay out of it entirely.

i mean huge difference between a couple fighting and a guy with his leg chopped off trying to survive

You've been watching too many movies.

I was thinking more along the lines helping someone change a tire , on that level, not on the level of some guy with a severed limb crawling around near me.

[–]chadwickofwv -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If it's risky, call the police. That's literally what they're paid for by our taxes.

Except the police have no obligation at all to help anyone, no matter the situation, but if they "fear for their life" they can simply execute you without repercussions.

I would absolutely hit back. I don't take abuse. Ever.

Even if it meant going to jail.

I get where you're coming from , 100%.

But I urge you to reconsider. The courts nearly across all nations, are uniformly misandric and heavily favor women. Your entire life could potentially be destroyed over nothing more than crocodile tears and a small bruise...

[–]Mythandros 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You're right.

I just get fed up with the way things are going and often feel like saying "Fuck it."

Oh absolutely.

I am 100% on board with you on the general sentiment of being frustrated... just saying, all it takes is one slip up, and your life as you know it will be over. That's how heavily skewed the courts are.

[–]HeForeverBleeds 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's more likely the opposite. Generally, it seems that women have fewer qualms hitting men for petty, unjustified shit because they're taught it's okay or funny or cute or badass

Men are taught from birth to "never, EVER hit a woman". So if he does, it's either one of the few guys who didn't let that lifelong conditioning influence him. Or it's because he's been put into an extreme situation

It's bullshit that women usually hit for good reason, it's bullshit that a man simply making a woman mad makes it justifiable for her to hit him, and it's bullshit that a man should never hit a woman back. I hope the next time she does hit a guy, if there is one, he knocks her on her ass, because this moron needs some sense knocked into her

[–]sakura_drop 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men are taught from birth to "never, EVER hit a woman". So if he does, it's either one of the few guys who didn't let that lifelong conditioning influence him. Or it's because he's been put into an extreme situation

Such a simple childhood 'lesson' and yet it can have pretty adverse long term effects. There does seem to be this unwritten rule that women are '''allowed''' to hit men, even though by law it is still assault. I realise that (sadly) the law is not upheld in the correct way a lot of the time, and the male victim will be the one who gets in trouble in the situation, but the fact of the matter is that there is not separate law or right that allows women to assault another person, be they male or female.

It's really so stupid. All one needs to do is make a tiny amendment to the wording when teaching a child: "Never hit anyone" (which is what me and my younger brother were taught). Gender has no place here. How are kids interpreting "Never hit a woman"? Boys thinking it's okay to be aggressive and violent and start fights so long as it's with other boys? Girls thinking they have a right to hit boys because the boys aren't allowed to retaliate? These are bad enough in the playground, but they can get a whole lot worse if the same mentality carries through to adulthood, moreso the latter.

"You said something so she had to resort to comitting a crime and we take you the right to defend yourself"

Real Talk, if somebody like Selena would hit me, i would kick her ass into an another dimension.

[–]PeonSupreme 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That quote sounds like it could have been taken directly from one of those Straus and Gelles studies back in the ‘70s. When will we ever learn?

[–]Isair81 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Horse-shit. The woman in this hypothetical scenario is clearly the agressor, and the hypothetical male would be well within his rights to use reasonable force to stop further assault.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Woman advocates domestic violence.

[–]PIG_CUNT 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (12 children) | Copy Link

She’s right about one thing: never hit a woman who hits you first.

Call the cops on her for assault.

If you’re in a relationship with her it’s domestic violence, and the repercussions for her will be more severe.

STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. It applies to you too, Selena. Ain’t that a bitch!

[–]chadwickofwv 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Call the cops on her for assault.

Have you not been here long? Calling the cops is the most dangerous thing a man can do in such a situation.

[–]PIG_CUNT 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

It doesn’t matter whether I’m here Long. This is not an ideology. This is a sub Reddit about wanting meant to have equal rights as women.

The fact that you think being here for long makes you end up all thinking the same thing as other people here, shows me what a sheep you are.

My background includes law-enforcement. Most of you guys have no idea what you’re talking about when it comes to DV and are completely talking out your asses.

You’ve convinced yourself that if you call the police after being assaulted by a woman it, as you so ridiculously say, “Is the most dangerous thing a man can do. “ LOL

That’s not the most dangerous thing you can do. You could kill her, for example. You could threaten her in writing. There are many other things you could do that would be far more dangerous for you than calling the police.

You also are sadly deluded if you think it’s the rule rather than the exception for a man to be arrested for calling the police after being assaulted by a woman.

By spreading that goofy and naïve notion, you are fucking up the minds of other people here who are equally sheltered as you.

[–]genkernels 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

You also are sadly deluded if you think it’s the rule rather than the exception for a man to be arrested for calling the police after being assaulted by a woman.

Ohoho, you really haven't been here long, here ya go:

More importantly, when an abused man called the police, the police were more likely to arrest him than to arrest his abusive female partner. The men who called the police were arrested in 26% of cases, whereas their abusive partners were arrested in only 17%.

It is no exception for a man to be arrested for calling the cops on his spouse.

[–]PIG_CUNT 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Ohoho

AH yes, the sign of someone who gleefully thinks they can point out the failings of another. Alas, you are mistaken. As you wish:

you really haven't been here long, here ya go:

Haha, sorry to burst your bubble (that's a figure of speech. I enjoy bursting the little ego-driven bubbles of people like you who try to take others down in some petty way) but neither disagreeing with you nor knowing that you are mistaken mean I haven't been here long.

With logic like that, are you a feminist troll? Just wondering, don't get all upset at the question.

More importantly, when an abused man called the police, the police were more likely to arrest him than to arrest his abusive female partner. The men who called the police were arrested in 26% of cases, whereas their abusive partners were arrested in only 17%.

Were those cases of mutual combat? LOL, you see, you don't know. Because it doesn't say, and the link to the data is - gee, whiz - broken. Oh my!

I did your work for you and found a cached version of the link and it confirmed what I said is correct and disproved what you said, LOL

Actually, not LOL. More like LMAO

Furthermore,

It is no exception for a man to be arrested for calling the cops on his spouse.

Sorry, you're wrong and you proved it. When 26% or men are arrested in cases of mutual combat, the rule is not to arrest them. The rule is not arresting them; the exception 26% of the time is to arrest.

But again, that's not what I suggested. I didn't suggest mutual combat.

I suggested NOT hitting her back, and instead calling LE. In THOSE cases, NO, men are almost NEVER arrested.

I'm truly sorry (LOL, not really) that you failed to disprove that fact.

[–]PIG_CUNT 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How so? Please, be specific.

[–]genkernels 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I did your work for you and found a cached version of the link

You very much did not, or you would have linked it here.

it confirmed what I said is correct and disproved what you said, LOL

It did not. You can even see a different breakdown (on second thought it could be of same data, not sure) in Table 4 of this document which reports 33% (helpseker arrested)/26.5% (partner arrested), and compare it to Table 1 here. To say that those numbers add up to men being arrested 30-50+% more when they call the police, and to blame that figure primarily on "mutual combat" is silly.

When 26% or men are arrested in cases of mutual combat

Wooah, there, that's not what the link said, that was 26% "when an abused man" was being arrested in cases of domestic violence he reported to the police. Mutual combat is a subset of that. And even if that number was for this "mutual combat", only in 8% of cases are both parties arrested according to that link, so that mutual combat would usually not be viewed as particularly mutual by police.

[–]PIG_CUNT 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Of course I did. Just because I didn’t post it doesn’t mean I didn’t. Your logic there is so asinine that YOU didn’t even do your own work by posting any proof. What you posted was a piece that has others giving examples of mutual combat, not data or methodology, nor ANYthing on unidirectional abuse by women after which the man called LE.

It’s not silly to blame it on REALITY. Your own link and the non-working link in it, when you go to the cached version, BOTH fail to mention stats on men being arrested for being hit without any physical reciprocity.

Your craven desire to hamster “man and woman get physical with each other” into “ANY time a man is hit by a woman - even if he never touches her - he is likely to be arrested!” is astounding, and disgusting.

[–]genkernels 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

What you posted was a piece that has others giving examples of mutual combat

No, no the summary paper I linked isn't an example of only mutual combat. You may insist it is such, you may wish it is such, but that doesn't make it true. Nonreciprocal violence will not save you from a malicious person's story.

Your craven desire to hamster “man and woman get physical with each other” into “ANY time a man is hit by a woman - even if he never touches her - he is likely to be arrested!” is astounding, and disgusting.

Your insistence that the figures posted say something other than what they are is impressive. As is your insistence on my emphasis nonreciprocal violence. I simply fail to see how non-reciprocity will save you from the general case (as evidenced by this link that I gave you before). It isn't going to matter as long as its he-said/she-said. But he can be arrested on her word, even if he is the one that calls the police.

Your logic there is so asinine that YOU didn’t even do your own work by posting any proof.

I'm the only one posting evidence at all.

[–]PIG_CUNT 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, no the summary paper I linked isn't an example of only mutual combat.

Show me where it says that. LOL

I'm the only one posting evidence at all.

You didn’t post evidence that police often arrest men who were nonreciprocally assaulted by women.

What you did post was a link to an article claiming someone else did a study, with a broken link.

Sorry (that’s a figure of speech; I’m not sorry), you are mistaken and you’re lying when you assert that *a study * - a study which you haven’t posted - claims something that *your own link * does NOT agree with. LOL

So much for 'equality.'

[–]davy147 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's this exact reason I think striking a woman should be allowed, just take everything she has said and reverse the gender roles and I think that a lot of women would stop their shit, Men, In general, aren't bullies but there needs to be a dominant role. there is a law in Russia that a husband is allowed to strike a wife with an open hand, James Bond himself hit the nail on the head in this interview - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oo0d1zTAFKA

[–]starkfuture 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, fair warning : don't try that shit with me.

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Funny thing is she debunks herself in this post, she's acting like the woman is never wrong but accidentally hints they can be in the post at the same time.

you take that shit because regardless of who's fault it was

If this kind of bullshit appeals to you then by all means, support it but I want nothing to do with you and you can't label yourself as somebody who cares about equality.

This woman does not think very well...

Hitting someone first is the right thing to do? Okay guys, if you think a woman is about to hit you (or even if she sorta just annoys you), make sure you give her a jab to the eye. Then whatever point you’re making is automatically correct and the woman will have no choice but to admit she deserved it.

[–]Anonymousincel 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sounds pretty horrible when you switch the genders.

Ah the old, "You made me hit you!" excuse.

Do all feminists have mental disorders or is society dumbing people down enough that they just go along with ridiculous shit like this?

So you're saying you agree that you might be the one at fault, but it's okay to hit him anyways?

Never hit a woman

Because...?

To be clear, I've never hit a woman in my life, neither will I ever, for clear reasons outlined in other comments here. But my point is, you've just spent a bunch of time defending why women should be about men, and then suddenly you say "no hit-backs", without explaining why?

[+]Organsplatter -7 points-6 points-5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What? No that's not what I'm saying. I didn't say not to defend themselves, you took that insanely out of proportion. I was making a serious remark cmon if you want to have a reasonable discussion about it or any disagreements you have about what I said I'd honestly enjoy it, I just wouldn't want to be brushed off just because I'm defending one side a little more than the other, IN THIS CASE

[–]PIG_CUNT 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The problem with your argument is that it presumes all men are stronger than all women. You know that’s not true.

It also means that if a weaker man hits a woman, it should be taken less seriously than a stronger woman hitting him. Totally unfair and unacceptable.

The way the law deals with the problem you’re trying to solve with your little double standard, is that there are different types of offenses depending on how much damage one party did to the other, regardless of sex. There’s assault, battery, aggravated assault, mayhem, mutual combat, etc.

But making a distinction based on sex is, by definition, sexist. And deeply flawed.

[+]Organsplatter -18 points-17 points-16 points 8 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

Ok this is the absolute wrong reason, my personal opinion is nobody should be hitting anybody, but unfortunately while both parties shouldn't hit either, it's a little more serious when a guy hits a girl because on AVERAGE men ARE stronger, so in those cases where the guy is stronger Its more serious if a guy hits he girl, only since it's the less of both evils when the consequence is a stinging cheek compared to a broken jaw and bruises ya know? Still, don't think anyone should be hitting anyone cuz peace y'all use your words to resolve

[–]bufedad 16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Men are stronger, so they don't deserve to defend themselves. They should let the women kill them if it comes to it. Never defend yourself, no matter how much she hurts you.

[+]Organsplatter -12 points-11 points-10 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

All I'm saying is (in an extreme example) an unripe lime and a lemon. If you press them hard, they'll both squish. It's just one takes a little more effort and one takes a little less to end up totally smooshed.

While I'm not saying female to male physical abuse doesn't happen, just think about the number of cases where a woman was beaten or killed(by brute force like fists and body not like a gun or knife) by an angry man, compared to the number of cases where the converse is true. Again, I'm not saying they don't exist and I'm not even saying they're uncommon. I know you could most likely pull up loads of cases where a man has been beaten senseless or killed(brute force like fists and body not like a gun or knife), but im just saying it's not nearly as common. And totally, not all men are stronger than the average woman, and not all women are weaker than the average male, however biological evolution programmed men's body to be able to build more muscle mass as the protector and hunter, so ON AVERAGE, men are stronger than women. So again, nobody should be hurting another human being, but it takes much less effort for a man to beat a woman to death with his fists than it does a woman to a man.

[–]nforne 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

On the one occasion where I hit a woman, it was in self defence. I used only enough force as was needed to bring the situation under control and we both walked away unscathed. She never hit me again after that.

Just because our maximum strength is higher than a woman's (on average) it doesn't mean we cannot control it. Somehow that's been forgotten.

[–]tenchineuro 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So then, since women tend to use weapons and surprise, men's lives don't matter.

Thank you for your input.

[–]eldred2 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

On average women are less capable in STEM disciplines. Still want the average to apply to all?

[–]Organsplatter -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'm sorry ok not totally understanding what you mean by this, but I specifically said not everyone???

[–]eldred2 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What is your point in mentioning the average? You specifically wrote, "it's a little more serious when a guy hits a girl because on AVERAGE men ARE stronger." How does the average matter? If a stronger woman hits a weaker man, would you judge that the same as an average man hitting an average woman?

[–]Organsplatter 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ok I reread that post, I mention in a later post down the thread about that.

And no OBVIOUSLY not, I'm saying that on average men are stronger than women, and it's more common that if a man was to hit a woman it would cause a bit more damage than a woman hitting a man. I'm not saying that either should be hit or given immunity for hitting, just that while I disagree with the fact that a man shouldn't defend himself, I wouldn't really support it if a man who was obviously much stronger than the woman forgot about self control and beat her back. I understand that if that woman was out of control, of COURSE he should defend himself, but all I'm saying is it takes so much more effort for most women to inflict the same amount of damage than that of a man. So in a situation where a woman hits a man, when it's in the most common situation where the man is much stronger than the woman, I wouldn't suggest the man hits her back, if anything hold her hands back and call the police, id say the same if the genders were reversed, again, this is when the victim is obviously much stronger than the inflicter.

[–]TheMythof_Feminism 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

it's a little more serious when a guy hits a girl because on AVERAGE men ARE stronger

That's a shit argument.

I've been in fights with guys that were stronger than me. In fact, the vast majority of fights are between guys of different strength or skill level. We know women are weak, that is precisely why they should NOT start fights. The law should stay out of this kind of thing, but unfortunately, we live in a heavily misandric world.

[–]Organsplatter -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Are you disagreeing with something I said? I'm a little confused at the sole point is. Not trying to be mean or rude I'm just asking for clarification for if you were disagreeing with something I said

[–]TheMythof_Feminism 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Are you disagreeing with something I said?

You can play dumb if you want, it just reveals you have nothing of substance to present.

[–]Organsplatter -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm not playing dumb. You're just expanding on the fact that not all men are stronger than the average woman, I already pointed it out. I'll revise what I said before, if you'd like to have a RESPECTFUL conversation/discussion I'd be totally open, and like I said I'd honestly enjoy it, but I DONT want to get in a petty argument with no purpose. I think it's kindof rude to say any part of that, and I'm dissapointed (not in you just in general) because I feel like currently I can't be or claim to be an actual feminist, because of the awful image so many bullies have coined feminism to be, claiming that women are the only ones who deserve decency or respect. I'm constantly trying to remind people when they're getting to far from the center of the scale of equality that bullying the image of men is not under any definition feminism; but unfortunatly when there is an issue that I think is worth pointing out that is in favor of feminism, it seems the reaction from many turns out to be defensive and sometimes even a little hostile. However I can't blame those reactions, since many many MANY people have been conditioned to expect any form of female support to end up being rooted at male dehuminization. So please do understand that I don't come from a point of view where "ALL MEN ARE EVIL. SEX IS A SEXIST ACT AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED RAPE" but an intelligent point. If anything I say is wrong, or seems to be skewed in any way, I always like having reasonable conversations and discussions about them, because I really do think it's interesting to see others points of veiws, nomatter how absolutely wrong I think they may be. Not that I think you're absolutely wrong, or even wrong at all!! I'm only saying that even when there is an opinion that I strONGLY disagree with, I like having respectful conversations, because there's gotta be a lot of reasoning behind those opinions you know? Anyway, I'm sorry if what I said was wrong to you, and I would honestly love to discuss it, just please don't resort to being passive aggressive or rude or something, I just feel a little hurt by the nature of that comment. And no I'm not getting "offended" I'm just saying it was a little hurtful to be so misinterpreted and to receive that reaction.

[–]TheMythof_Feminism 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I feel like currently I can't be or claim to be an actual feminist

Good.

Feminism was always a completely garbage ideology, from day 1. I have no idea why you would want to be associated with such trash.

because of the awful image so many bullies have coined feminism to be

Uh no. Feminism was always trash, the tenets of feminism established since its inception in the 60s/70s (Patriarchy theory, oppression of women, communistic notions, etc.) were all completely wrong..... obviously. When you're talking about an ideology created by the nonsensical ramblings of 4 psychotic women, of course it will have zero meritorious notions.

[The 4 architects of feminism were Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Valerie Solanas and Andrea Dworkin.... they were all completely nutzoids]

If anything I say is wrong, or seems to be skewed in any way, I always like having reasonable conversations and discussions about them

Somehow I doubt that, given that a great deal of what you're saying is empty rheotric.

I just feel a little hurt by the nature of that comment.

Ahh, you are a female, well that explains a lot.

Anyway, the point of the previous argument presented was very straightforward; It is known that generally speaking, women are significantly weaker than men.

However, it is also known that in a fight, there is one combatant that is weaker than the other. Fights still happen. Therefore the argument that "women are weaker and therefore should not be hit" holds no water.

And no I'm not getting "offended" I'm just saying it was a little hurtful to be so misinterpreted and to receive that reaction.

"Hurt feelings" is not an argument.

Jesus, you've never dated or met a girl have you? Yeah ok no if you won't be reasonable I won't either. First of all, "feminism" is nothing more than supporting the rights of women. If you're saying you don't "believe" in the FACT that women were treated as less than men, and still are on a much smaller scale than before, then you're just an idiot who's denying actual information. I think it's unnecessary to say you doubt that I'd like a reasonable discussion, being that I'm actually the only one who'd been respectful so far. And saying "aaah your a female. That explains a lot," is honestly incredible for me to hear. The fact that on a subReddit where the MAIN role is support of a gender, you use gender as an explanation for the qualities of someone you disagree with is incredibly ignorant. Being that your username is TheMythof_Feminism, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised at the fact you have a closed minded world where your enjoyment stems from arguing terribly and using bad examples for bad claims on the internet. Hey, I actually have a serious suggestion for you, why don't you go check out r/inceltears? I'm sure you'd be a great feature there :)

Jesus, you've never dated or met a girl have you?

I've been with plenty of women. I wouldn't be with one like you because I am not attracted to overweight fuggos.

Yeah ok no if you won't be reasonable I won't either.

Nothing I said in the previous comment was unreasonable.

If you're saying you don't "believe" in the FACT that women were treated as less than men

Maybe in islamic nations, sure.

But women were always a protected class, they were always shielded from the world by men. Not that this has anything to do with anything.

And saying "aaah your a female. That explains a lot," is honestly incredible for me to hear.

That's funny.

"It's incredible to hear" yet you don't refute the concept at all.... you have nothing of value to say. The point of that statement was that men and women are different, including in what type of comments they make.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised at the fact you have a closed minded world where your enjoyment stems from arguing terribly and using bad examples for bad claims on the internet.

Yawn.

Sweetheart, when you're done with spewing nonsense, let me know. I have no interest in handling hysterical women.

The things is sometimes (women) use weapons... Weapons are equalizer.

I agree with you that we shouldn't hit each other, but I guess that there are some situations of legitimate defense that can justify a men defending itself physically?

But in that case will the police believe the men? I really don't know. I would like to know if there are systematic biases favoring women? And if that is the case, what is the effect on the behavior of men suffering from domestic violence or other forms of physical violence by women?

[–]PowerToAnnihilate 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I guess I can never hit smaller men than me too because I hit harder and am bigger than them.

Oh and buff women who are taller can't hit me by that logic too.

How about this "don't hit another human unless they are hitting or attempting to hurt you AND they can do damage AND cannot be restrained without putting yourself at risk of damage."

[–]Keenin455 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So on the one hand, you don't want people hitting each other.

But then on the other, you say it's more serious when a man hits a woman.

You do know people are using that excuse to justify refusing to support male victims of domestic violence and women are also hiding behind that to get away with all kinds of bad behaviour towards men, right?

So maybe you should, I don't know, stop endorsing that narrative?

[–]McFeely_Smackup 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

it's a little more serious when a guy hits a girl because on AVERAGE men ARE stronger,

So, as long as a guy only give her about 25% to the face, then it's all good right? because it's even?

You seem to think abuse is a boxing match where "stronger person wins", but you're just completely, and ignorantly wrong. Abusive relationships are overwhelmingly one PERSON who uses violence, and one PERSON who doesn't fight back.

Gender/Weight/Physique play a negligible part.
