Universities need to stop suspending students who are being accused of sexual misconduct until they are proven guilty. They also should have the right to stay anonymous until their convictions. At least this student won the first battle and he is now planning to seek damage over false allegations.

We should be careful to not become like the sexist feminists we hate, and not to let rage and anger control us so that we don't become mysogynistic, and destroy this sub and this movement from within.

A list about feminism misandry for anyone who thinks that feminism fights for men’s rights, for anyone who thinks that feminism was only a sexist movement starting from the third wave and for anyone who accuse the MRM of being a sexist movement, while still defending feminism.

After all the brigading that we had lately, there's a real pushing to make the MRM be supportive of the feminist movement, and I think that will be the day that the MRM stop being a movement for men’s rights.

This woman should get the same amount of time as the trooper would have had, so that in the future, liars like her would know that there are consequences to their actions.

She should lose her job!

[–]jb_trp 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But she apologized guys! Nothing to see here. /s

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

She should also be barred from filing any sort of complaint or lawsuit as she has shown a willingness to abuse the system.

[–]TheOneGuyWithGlasses 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

If she actually gets raped then she wouldnt be able to report it.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Then she shouldn't abuse the system and try weaponizing it against an officer who's just doing his job (or anyone else for that matter). Let her serve as an example.

[–]TheOneGuyWithGlasses 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Ok so she should be punished but what you are doing is saying that she no longer has the right to be protected by the justice system. Thats not very fair. I say give her a full rape sentence and false rape accusations should mean the perp is put on the sex offenders list

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

She being the perp, I can go along with that.

What's equally unfair is the falsely accused having to move ahead with damaged reputations. Time is short so I cannot research this but there's one case where charges were dropped but the accused still had to register as a sex offender despite there not being sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial.

Life is chock full of "unfair" and I hold that disproportionate blow back resulting from one's own conscious choice to utilize the criminal justice system as a weapon against innocent parties should include some level of restriction of their access to that system- similar to how someone who uses a gun to commit a felony is barred from possessing firearms.

Frankly, if she needs protection from potential rapists, remand her to protective custody away from those vile, evil predators until her debt to society is paid and she is deemed sufficiently rehabilitated to merit full access to something she has a track record of abusing.

Yeh i agree. I think people being accused of rape should be given anomity until they are proven guilty or innocent

[–]Hotbbqwing -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nobody has ever been registered as a sex offender without being convicted of a crime. I’ll buy you gold if you can prove otherwise.

“They found Britton guilty of second-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor”

He was convicted of a sexual crime, the argument was over what classification level.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Addendum... anyone who abuses the legal system ought to have their access to instigating actions restricted.

[–]circlhat 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

or at least have this shown

[–]Neko404 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I have to disagree. Maybe if she demonstrates this behavior repeatedly then maybe.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Her apology is a mitigating factor- though I doubt it would have happened had the camera evidence not surfaced- I believe there need to be safeguards in place against abusing the system.

[–]il_viapo 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It was the attorney to apologize not her

This is why every cop should support body cams.

[–]Ashenox 25 points26 points27 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Honestly things like this are why every cop needs a body cam. The amount of people caught lying about police abuse due to the use of body cams has been super high this year so far.

It's kind of sad to see this. This woman is obviously educated, got a good job and trying to better her life. She was extremely cooperative during the incident. The officer was very professional as well, he even tried to chit chat with her while waiting for the breathalyzer to prime up and working on its results. Why in the world did she have to go for these false accusations and ruin any chances of goodwill she'd have had in court?

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because it stood a good chance of working.

And when it didn't, nothing in particular happened.

A lot more people would gamble if the only outcomes were winning money or breaking even.

Wonder if any action will be taken against Shaun King after all the false garbage he posted and the death threats the officers received, I hope they go after him in the civil court at least.

Surprised that the lawyer would say anything unless he dropped her as a client.

The trooper was targeted with vicious invective on social media, calling him a rapist. Also, another police officer who had nothing to do with any of this but just happens to have the same name as this trooper was harassed on social media by people who googled the name and assumed it was the same person. (I'm not going to repeat the name here, but it's still all over the Internet and for the rest of both of these troopers' lives people will google their names and find accusations that they're rapists.) Even when false accusations don't lead to criminal charges, they do real damage to people.

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 72%. (I'm a bot)
