A simple way to solve this would be to present the scenario to those complaining about it.

"We have one CEO, responsible for ensuring the millions in investment are not wasted, that profits rise, that the company runs smoothly, etc. etc. he is Male

We have 37 managers in different locations, 31 are Male and 6 are Female

We have 150 floor staff, 120 are Female, 30 are Male

We have 73 warehouse workers, 69 are male, 4 are female."

In order to address the gender pay gap, please explain how much you will pay each worker, taking into account their responsibilities.

If any gender pay gap exists at the end, please explain why you're not sexist.

it was revealed that nine out of ten public sector employers pay men more than women, with women paid on average 14% less than male colleagues.

No mention about what jobs they do.

Engineers paid more than secretaries? OMG

[–]Apexbreed 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also: 10 year veterans paid more than first year rookies? Also: Man working 60 hour week paid more than woman working 40 hour week??

This is stupid. The sensationalist statistics also doesn't account for overtime or maternal leaves or holidays or experience or the complex nature of a workplace.

Also: retarded. Why would companies willingly splurge on men? They need to make money. Obviously the male higher wage is justified and good enough for the company, for them to continue giving them better wages.

Christ.

It's purely anecdotal, but every single job I've worked always had a few women taking much time off than anybody else.

Have a headache? Sick day. Sprain your ankle? Sick day. Having an off day? Sick day. Then they wanna complain why they didn't get the promotion or raise they wanted? Really? Bitch, you took like 50 days off last year alone!

[–]mrafinch 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You forgot the most prevalent one...

Your 14 year old child has a cold? Day off!

This dumb shit happens ALL THE TIME.

The Guardian posts this like the Huffington Post publishes photo essays of overweight middle-aged women who will 'redefine' your concept of what a BEAUTIFUL woman really is.

Where are all these women who are paid less then their male counterparts? Their aren't any! There never have been, there never will be.

In a year's time look at all the women who are now getting paid more than men because of this. There won't be a single one.

If anything, this make companies less likely to employ women because they've become such a fucking liability.

Imagine you run a small business while women are insisting that pregnant women get maternity leave, while men do not get paternity leave. Or women are insisting that you have to go to court to prove that every lazy female employee isn't being 'denied promotion' just because she's a woman!

You run a business! Business owners don't give a fuuuuuuuck who they employ . Men, women, black, white. If they have to go to court every time they employ a woman they won't do it because it's just not worth it.

I've read quotes from the many, very sensible female business owners and entrepreneurs out there who know this to be true. You make employing a woman the kind of hassle that feminists want and NOBODY will hire a woman.

The only take-away message I get from this is how more female business owners need to shut this shit down. Women who have made it in business are the people who REALLY know what they're talking about (more than me certainly, lol) so when they mention the things the REALLY put businesses off from employing women you better listen.

"Across the UK a whiff of revolution is in the air. As companies report their gender pay gap..."

How? I work at a UK company and we're all contractually forbidden of discussing our wages. Does this mean that the various HR departments are just doing it anyawy? Can anybody else look at these numbers?

[–]zedocao 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So it's down to the companies to report on themselves about pay gap. Never would a company try to hide anything. /s That still doesn't give anybody full transparency.

Can we launch #YouToo to close the homeless gap?

[–]randezvouswithrama 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Finally! Young women earn more than young men, unmarried women earn more then unmarried men, homosexual women earn more than homosexual men. Women spend several times more than men. Finally these problems are going to be addressed!

Thank god we have feminism!

Oh, you poor, poor womanly creatures. If only there were a way to, you kn, negotiate a salary. Oh wait. When I was 23, I told my future employer that he could either pay me 100k p.a. or eat a bag of dicks (phrased it a bit more diplomatic but that's the essence). If I as an awkward, socially incompetent man could do it, then the queens of narcissism and emotional competence should be able too, no?

But it is so much easier to be entitled and demand the problem be solved for them automagically. The world doesn't owe you anything and you're not equal to the man or woman next to you. Go your own way and build your career yourself. If you're good at what you do and chose the right path, people will pay you well. Well enough so you don't have to question it all the time. Unless of course you have an inferiority complex.

Reveal on average the pay per hour of each job classification by male and female.

Then reveal the average hours worked by males vs females

Then reveal hears og experience, education or males vs female.

We will see if it is truly equal pay for equal work or if there are other circumstances

After Jordan Peterson's video this is going to be an absolute disaster for them if so many people try to pursue this at all seriously. Cathy Newman, the woman she debated is trying to claim her employer is discriminating against women despite being so publicly debunked on it. Not only that, in slightly unrelated news but related to the larger issue at hand of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn is finally going to have to respond properly to the anti-semitism problem within his party.

I think these factors all combined are slowly beginning to unravel the left, it will take some time, but the kind of shit we're seeing and having to deal with is finally showing itself to the wider public. Hopefully this will mean that people within the left will either work to getting rid of these people or alternatively they'll stop voting Labour altogether out of disgust as even one of their top donors has ended up quitting the Labour party over this type of stuff.

More than likely I think what we'll see happening is a Hillary Clinton style scenario where the left wingers out there at the very least just won't be able to vote in good conscience and stay away from it all.

Remember when on camera women complained they were getting paid less than men (in part because they were comparing themselves to the men who have been on camera for decades or in hugely popular shows... or both [Chris Evans]) so the BBC launched an investigation and found out that there were more men that actually needed a raise for their roles than women.

These on-air women complaining about it, really have no idea of how pay in entertainment works. Complaining about how much Chris Evans got paid.

Without realising he's been a mainstay in the British media for 3-4 decades, and was joining the BBC's most profitable show ever.

It was like Robin Wright complaining about her getting less money than Kevin Spacey.

He was the reason people tuned in to watch, he was the main character, he had more lines and more air time. Of course he is getting paid more than you, and it's completely correct for him to do so.

#GetAHigherPayingJob #WorkMoreHours #WorkOverTime

So tired of this myth.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Public outrage and support is a function of focus. Metoo was at it's height when it was new and fairly concentrated on a few high profile targets as 'examples'. As everybody and their dog latch onto it with their pet cause, it ceases to mean much of anything and more importantly, people cease to care.

I'd bet good money this is the first and last time we hear about "paymetoo"

[–]Greg_W_Allan 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Metoo has ALWAYS been about the pay day.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sure but not overtly. They've got a serious message creep problem.

Think we should start #Rest4MeToo. Work out the average number of hours of paid work men and women do, and then publicise it to force equality.
Work done at home does not count unless it's paid of course, and days off sick will reduce your average rate.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I can't stand the moaning about the uneven distribution of housework. If you are going out with a lazy guy, that isn't anything to do with the patriarchy. Make him do it, or dump him. It's not society's fault!

[–]Karma9999 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This wasn't about housework :p

Some women seem so bothered that they on average take home less than men, this was to show the difference in the hours they both work to get that take home pay.

[–]CulturalWishbone 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women who feel underpaid should quit and go look for better jobs! Of course no one will want to hire unskilled cry babies.

[–]throwawaylifespan 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They say a woman's work is never done. That's probably why she doesn't get a pay rise.

let's get a#FuckMeToo campaign started for them as well. so they can see what it's really like to me a man in this society of hate, selfishness, and deceit.

[–]LabTech41 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You mean #PayMeExtra.

This has always been the end-goal of the feminists who harp on and on about the 'gender pay gap', despite like 30 years of evidence that the disparity between the AVERAGE of male's and female's earnings is based on life choices and not bias within the system. They keep denying the obvious and the thoroughly debunked because they're hoping for measures like this where they seek to 'correct' the gap by paying women more relative to men for the same effort.

Sad thing is, they'll almost certainly get that extra pay, because they can paint everyone who stands in opposition to it as sexist and misogynistic. The only silver lining to it will be that recruiters, headhunters, and others who're responsible for bringing in new workers will just add automatic demerits to any female candidate because it'll now be objectively cheaper to hire men.

I might actually get a fair shake as a man trying to look for work in a female-dominated industry, given that every time I get turned down for a position it's undoubtedly because female candidates get disproportionately considered.

[–]maxcorrice 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So men are finally gonna stop getting pay cuts for companies to be “progressive”?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This #sendMEacheckTOO campaign is getting old.
