That is fucking perfect! It sums up the double standard regarding men and women’s choice in becoming a parent very well and with such a simple illustration. Good job!

Unfortunately, after spending 3 years on this forum and having debates with people all over reddit about this issue .... I already know that most people will still try to argue that these two things are different.

I’ve had these debates to many times... hell, they’re not even debates, more like me talking to a brick wall.

People argue that because women carry the child for 9 months, that entitles them to chose whether or not they want to become a parent. Even when I point out that men will have to provide for that child and pay for it for over 18 years, they still don’t feel that men deserve to chose whether or not they want to become a parent and take on that kind of responsibility.

The double standard is fucking disgusting and it’s just another example of how men are treated like disposable utilities who’s only purpose is to serve women, children and society in general. Our society cares far more about women’s happiness and well being, than they do men’s... and this is illustrated by the lengths they will go to make sure no woman has to become a mother if she’s unwilling, meanwhile they will force unwilling men to take on parental responsibilities and incarcerate them if they fail to do so.

If you browse my Posts, you'll see that for the past few years this topic has been my main focus of attention. The reason is because I genuinely believe that post conception rights (or our lack of) should at the centre and therefore should be of highest priority for equality for men.

If you watch this rage inducing interview with Katherine Spillar, even she admits that abortion rights for women is one of the most powerful things for women, before she subsequently moves on to dismiss the right for men to do the same thing.

What I've learned over the past 5 years is that The MRM (for all the good that it fights for) is not really the ideal movement for the Legal Abortion Initiative.

Firstly, a lot of MRAs are against abortion altogether. Secondly, a lot of MRAs who aren't against abortion, are more concerned with men having the right to veto a woman's right to abortion, claiming that an abortion should only occur when both the man and woman mutually agree.

I'm strictly of the third opinion. I don't believe a man should have any say over whether a woman can have an abortion or not. I believe that it is her body, and her choice, but I also believe that it is her sole responsibility, and that a man should only opt into parenthood, if he chooses do to so.

I suspect however that I'm of a minority in the MRM, and so to get this intitiative started, it will need to be fought as a separate movement.

I am all for mens rights, but what is this whole idea around circumcision being just as bad as female genitalia mutilation. I am a circumcised male and i have no problems. A female however who has had her genitals mutilated suffers everytime she has sex. While a circumcised male has sex just fine. Circumcision is nothing compared to F.G.M

I'd recommend giving this a read to have a better understanding of how FGM and MGM are related, if you'd really like to know.

You say you are circumcised and have no problems, but if you were circumcised at birth you wouldn't know if your experiences are any different than the experiences of intact men, since you personally have no other experiences to refer to. Other men do have recognized problems because of their circumcisions.

The notion that circumcised women have problems everytime they have sex, I believe, is very true. But these women don't believe that to be the case. Probably for the same reason you don't believe you have problems. It's usually circumcised women who insist on circumcising their daughters, much like it's usually the circumcised men who insist on circumcising their sons.

The benefits of these circumcisions are negligible, especially considering we're talking about amputation here, where the risks include death of the child

If an informed adult wants to get cut, man or woman, they should be able to do that. But the idea that its ok to cut a kid, boy or girl, is nothing more than a product of the culture around you. You are likely American, the FGM advocates are likely Muslim. Other cultures are more objective about this.

Ultimately though, nontherapeutic infant circumcision is undeniably a human rights violation. That includes men's rights.
