I know women that DID know the father yet still opted for state support and to keep the father away from his child. It's time that we as a society accept the fact that women can be ruthlessly cruel and parasitic. All women are not good. Lucky for us many are good but many are not and the chaos the bad women create has ruinous effects on Earth.

In the UK it's super fucked up. Get impregnated and you are given a house and money. You are high priority when it comes to repairs. New kitchen and bathroom. No problem. All paid for. You don't have to work until the child is school age so get another bun in the oven. Don't need a man in the house. You are financially better off without as he would have to be working then allowance is deducted. When the kid is school age you only need a part time job and are presented with options for further education at university. Most single moms that look to work in future train as nurses through this. I wish I could drop out of my job and get paid to get a better education. But no. I have to work to pay for all of this.

I am also on the receiving end of child support. The system is definitely unfair. Awhile ago my ex got a letter from the child support office saying that he had missed a payment over 4 years ago. They were threatening to withhold taxes, take his drivers license, and whatever else they threaten people with. I had no clue about this missed payment and honestly didn't care. I had to go up to the office with him and sign some papers saying that I was aware of this and that I was refusing the $250 plus whatever the interest was on it. I mean, it was $250 and over 4 years ago. My ex and I have a good relationship but him thinking that I went behind his back about this almost ruined our civil relationship. Like, why make an issue out of something if I don't care?

When I was going through my divorce, my ex and his lawyer drafted up papers which included how much child support he would pay each month, $250. My lawyer kept saying (almost insisting) I should request a whole lot more than that but I didn't because my son was only 1 at the time and that is more than enough to cover part of my son's expenses. I am always shocked when people say they are paying $1000+ per month for one child. My son is 6 now and I still receive the same amount. As he gets older and has more expenses then I might need more from his father but I'd much rather him just help pay for one time fees (extracurricular fees and whatnot when he is in school) then deal with the child support office. I mean, it's called child support, not baby momma support.

I agree with her so much, but I think an important take away is that this is not necessarily a zero sum game. We should still actively support planned parenthood. Give the option for men to be counciled, and make abortions available for women. I do not wish to take away that choice, but men should still be given a choice. At least to not be a father.

An idea I would love to get behind but that's impractical at this stage. Right now I'd just like it to if a positive paternal test was required before child support.

And maybe sone paternity leave as well.

A friend of mine wasn't married to the mother of his child. In my state the less the other parent works the more the other parent pays. So the other parent can literally take a job that pays almost nothing to get more child-support. If she had ended up having to pay child support it would be about $80 a month. They were trying to get About 30% of his paychecks.

The situation ended up even more bizarre because they both have the kids 50% of the time but the guy pays the woman child support. So he supports the kids 50% of the time and then he supports the kid on the mothers time. He is pretty much supporting the kid about 90% financially

My ex gets to take cross country trips. Go to comic expos. Not work for years. Has everything paid for by social services. Never questioned.

I spend some cash getting new brake lines that I do the rok for myself because they blew out and I get accused to spending on luxury...

While the current system is pretty absurd and needs reform, there is no simple answer to this problem and abolishing child support entirely isn't a solution either. There are deadbeat dads and deadbeat moms and there are a variety of situations where personal choice and stupidity were not the primary factors. Like any welfare there are those that abuse the system and those that are good people who deserve assistance. The best we can do frankly is make a fair system that respects the rights of everyone involved and isn't biased and has reasonable oversight. That still won't be perfect but abolishment or a continuation of the status quo are way worse.

I think this lady is wrong. If EITHER a mom or a dad keeps a baby, the other party has the right to walk away (it's not morally proper in my opinion, but people should have that choice) but he/she SHOULD pay child support.

As for welfare, I believe leaving mothers (or fathers) to face a terrible choice of either adopting their child(ren) out or raising them in acute poverty is wrong. Welfare needs reforms, not annihilation. Maybe like the state will support you if you have 1-3 (4?) children, but not more? I don't know. I'm open to have a discussion but I won't say we should go back to the days when the poor were left to themselves.

Welfare bashing, using the MRM as a shield to bash the social safety net. No thanks.

Don't get me wrong welfare needs reform, that why I support BI, but poor bashing sickens me.

Child support I'll admit should also be reformed, what the payer spend on the child should be deducted from the payments.
